Re: Urgent Wedding Help Pl Ladies!!!

you could try shopping online for your veil. I did and got a beautiful veil and tiara for a good price. It was from a company in the U.S. I found by googling. good luck!

By Googling "Buy Wedding Veil Online" you get about 1.4 million hits.

Re: Urgent Wedding Help Pl Ladies!!!

The biggest wedding dress store in Switzerland is Chez Janine in Bubikon (near Rapperswil, about 40min by car from Zurich). We were relieved to see that there is so much choice, not so common in small Switzerland.

My fiancée bought her dress there, all the accessories and a veil (CHF 120). I also bought my wedding suit there. Chez Janine is expensive and they charge for any adjustments by the hour (CHF 60 per hour) which quite quickly adds up to a few hundred francs.

Another store worth visiting, if you're looking for better value for money than Chez Janine might be Milojka in Baden.

For evening dresses other than wedding dresses, my fiancée highly recommends the Karen Millen shop in the Storchengasse in Zurich. Also it's worth to have a look at the top floor of the Modissa shop in the Bahnhofstrasse (corner with Uraniastrasse).

Re: Urgent Wedding Help Pl Ladies!!!

Hi Tala,

I assume you're asking how my wedding went??? It was the most unforgetably beautiful day - not just for us but for our friends and family too. As it should be. And your's should be better!

Assuming you're getting hitched in Zh, you can check out 2 places that in my opinion are reasonable. Be sure to call and book way in advance though!!

1. Schminkbar on Bahnhofstrasse for hair and make up. Saw a bride and all her maids get done up and everyone looked really pretty. They speak English (044-222-1122). Make up with trial costs 160. make up and hair without a trial costs 150 and make up and hair with trial costs 320.

2. Celeste Cosmetic on Seefeldstr - gosh i LOVE this place. But for my waxing... got massaged, facial and a pedi there too and they're really nice girls and did great jobs with all the stuff so far so I'm sure they'd do a great job with the make up. Thing is they don't do hair. Make up with a trial costs - 110.

For hair, I LOVE Björn von Rotz. He has his own place called 'Room of Design' - next to Hegibachplatz on Forchstr. 0434999955. Insist you want just him to do your hair. Be prepared to wait even 3 months... he's incredibly popular and on the fashion circuit in Europe. He is fair with his prices I think... for the work he does.

Another option -

Mac, Bobby Brown etc etc in your Manors, Globus's and Jelmoli's do make up for free. Its like a promotion for them - you tell your friends where you got your make up done foc, you may buy a product. They have books and timings - don't be shy, just walk to them all and ask if they're free for whenever you want. That way you can save on your trial and final make up cost (don't forget to tip though! ), and you can spend more on the hair.

Flowers I'm not too sure about. Just keep hearing they cost a fortune so many couples opt for a handful. I kept thinking about some option for you- Don't know if it will work but here's a suggestion. Why not go down to Bürkliplatz on a tuesday morning say 8 am or so and speak to the people selling flowers and plants. See if they'd be interested in doing something like that. Get a few numbers, haggle, compare and decide!

Hope I could be of some help... All the best to you! Hope you find everything you're dreaming of.

Hi Arena,

You could try Pronuptia near Zurich Hauptbahnhof. Contact details here:
http://www.pronuptia.ch/de/zuerich.htm

A friend of mine had her dress (bought in the UK) altered there, no problem. Some other shops would only alter stuff if you had bought it from them too.

Good luck!!
Hi Jot,

After reading your tip about dress alterations at Pronuptia in Zurich I took my wedding there for alterations and it was done magnificently! Thanks for the tip! I looked all around Zurich and as most people posted, many stores only will do alterations to dresses purchased at their own stores (my dress was a second hand Monique Lhuillier). The people at Pronuptia were very professional and nice so I'd highly recommend them for wedding dress alterations. Do note that it is EXPENSIVE though, 80chf per hour, so only do it if it's truly worth it!
