I think it does, just trying to help! I think it would make a huge difference if it was rice as opposed to cufflinks

Sorry, I did not mean to come across as rude.

I was genuinly asking if the shipping cost is impacted depending on what is included in the package.

I understand that the customs import charge will differ depending on what you import.

Once again, was not meant to be rude. Thank you for taking time to answer.

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

I have used http://www.excess-baggage.com/ a number of times for shipping personal/household stuff, but maybe they take other kinds of shipments too. Not sure they are really the cheapest but they are fast and relatively hassle free. They use DHL, but I find them cheaper than shipping with DHL directly.

I rang all the local companies near me in the Uk, the small ones not the big names. One of them had a weekly run to switzerland and just stuck my boxes on the lorry too, at a really good price, worth a try ....... it cost half the price of other quotes.

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

Use this company to ship from the UK cost roughly £18
http://www.parcelsplease.co.uk/

Get it sent to here in Germany, cost roughly 8 euros.

https://www.deutsche-lieferadresse.com/packages

Used this many times, never been let down, takes a few days from the UK to Dropzone.

Might not be easy from Luzern but excellent for Zurich.

Hi
I used parcel to go when I moved over here to ship non urgent things. Very good service and cheap. If you choose economy service it can take up to.two weeks but I shipped 4 30 kg boxes with them and it cost me £60.

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

Hi,

Would anyone be able to update this post, or give tips on how to get the prices that people have quoted?

I tried getting quotes for three boxes of 75x75x75cm, 30kg, and all these companies charge £1000+, whereas the people posting in 2009 suggested £20 a box.

Many thanks!

Cheers
grp

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

I highly recommend parcel2go.com I am from England and used these moving to and from Switzerland. Arrived in 3 days both ways and very cheap prices (was £40 for one of medium sized heavy box) no minimum to send and they pick up from any location. They also have lots of good reviews and personal experiences and tracking available. Hope this helps

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

Thanks! Yes I found that if I change the box dimensions from 75x75x75 to 50x50x100, the price drops dramatically from several hundred pounds per box to about 40 pounds. Weird, but I can live with it!

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

While I have not shipped things into Switzerland I have used a company Fastlane International to transport many items to Germany. I highly recommend them, excellent customer service, best prices I found and allowed package dimension that were not possible going direct with main brand courier i.e UPS, DHL................ I used them for such items as, A large rug, large hi-fi speakers, a bike (in box) and many other bulky items.

Re: What's the cheapest way to ship 20-30kg boxes from UK to Switzerland?

I have used the website called AnyVan many times, both within the UK and to bring stuff to Switzerland. You post an ad describing what you want transported, the route and when (you have the option to say flexible) and then you either wait for quotes, or invite the companies that match your requirements to offer a quote (I recommend that). Then you choose what works for you best, pay a small deposit to secure the job and pay the rest when the job is done. There are reviews from verified customers only and it works cheap usually because these small companies are already doing that route and your things just get added. For example, for 23 medium boxes and 5 pieces of luggage, I was offered a quote of £310. I hope this helps.
