Washing Machine Dramas as usual!

Hi All,

Still having trauma with our washing machine in the shared wash room, either broken or full of other folks stuff!

Anyone know a good cleaning lady in Nyon area who would be able to wash clothes, or cleaning company!

I need to hurry as I am running out of pants!

Cheers!

Re: Washing Machine Dramas as usual!

Just had the wife calling me up about a neighbour telling her off for not doing the washing in the allocated time and wasn't very pleasant about it.

Our machine is always full too, do we live in the same building?

This is why I knew having a 4 hour block of time on Tuesday mornings wasn't going to work... no way José.

Just turn them inside out and put them on again. That's what I do and now I just use 1 pair every 6 days. It helps the planet too apparently.

Re: Washing Machine Dramas as usual!

Some people just get real upset over this time slot business. I know a lot of our neighbours have their own machines which is good for us as the shared machines are less used and also we can borrow other slots if we ask.

We are not supposed to wash on Sundays but no one in our building minds. That said the other building here do complain. We had a letter come round from the regime last year about it. When we asked the conceirge he said it was from the other blocks and not a problem for us. No one can hear the machines running in the basement so I do not get what the deal is.

If we were in the same situation we would definately have our own machines installed.

We know a good cleaning lady but I am not sure she does washing.

Re: Washing Machine Dramas as usual!

I have the Monday evening slot. Generally, there are no problems. But is seems that in every building there is someone who sees the laundry schedule as an opportunity to rebel, and they decide to use my time slot.

Being the last of the day, I finish my laundry at midnight. I have yet to receive a complaint from my neighbours about washing after 10 pm. Rather than conflict, I speak with the building manager and the problem goes away for a couple of months.

Re: Washing Machine Dramas as usual!

Couldn't you fit a small(ish) machine in four appartment?

For instance, I have one in mine where I wash all our clothes, and I use my slot (Thursday afternoons) for the bedsheets and towels, which are bulkier. This way I can also have access to the drier, as it would be too umpractical to hang huge sheets in my place.

It means I usually do 3 loads of clothes at home during the week (family of 4), and 2 loads in the building machine during my alloted time.

Since you are in Geneva and a bit desperate, there is at least one laundromat in the Paquis area. Be aware it is in the heart of the red light district but at least an interesting atmosphere to entertain you while your pants are getting run through the cycles.
