| | | Where to buy "farmhouse" furniture?
We're looking to buy a new dining table and would like something slightly rustic or made from reconditioned wood.....seems to be difficult to buy such things here.
Anybody know any manufacturers who produce such things - ideally that we can have something either custom made or "tweaked" slightly if we need to
Thanks

I'm obsessed with this store. They deliver to CH but you'll have to go to France to actually have a look as they don't have a physical store in CH. http://www.maisonsdumonde.com/CH/fr/
I have more options but they are in the French part. Will that help or not?

I can really recommend the following http://www.holzwurmsanatorium.ch/
They have a great variety of items and treat and finish to order. Really friendly too.

Agreed, wow.
Don't forget antique shops. Antiques are really good value in CH really. Sadly smaller appartments don't suit large farmhouse furniture, and anyway 'kids' only want Ikea, etc. There are several towns in Romandie which specialize in antiques, Le Landeron (NE) near Bienne, St Ursanne in the Jura and Romainmotiers in VD. A trip to either of those 3 medieval towns is worth it anyway- a great week-end destination.
Also Troc shops, which sell furniture on behalf of customers. Often unwanted inheritances, etc- often too large and chunky for the Swiss Yuff. We have one in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and there is one North of Lausanne (Villars St Croix) and one in Aigle.

Thanks | | | | | I can help you with that, I am an Australian carpenter with my own (new) company here. A lot of my work is with small renovation projects and terrase decks but I would like to get back to more furniture making this year. See www.noonwoodwork.com for an idea of what I do. I make everything to order so the colour and exactly how rustic the piece is, is your choice. Once we agree on a design then I will make a sample piece of finished wood so you can "try before you buy" in your house to make sure it is going to match your room.

HIOB often have good secondhand furniture, rustic and other types, at very reasonable prices. Have a look at their website www.hiob.ch to find a store near you if you're interested. Also stock lots of other things as well.

I saw this webpage once: http://www.vicoobjects.com/de/index.php?navid=1
but ended up ordering one from: http://www.bk-design.ch/B+K%20DESIGN.html
I am very happy with my dining table, although it is not antique nor from refurbished wood. Swiss design made in Germany. Good price, too. Mine is on the reference list. I did not know of Noon Wood Work at the time although I will most likely contact them for my new bed!

May I point out the obvious? It's just that I'm a fan www.ricardo.ch
I like antique furniture, and the things I bought over the years, and the price I paid for them still amazes me.

You could also check DIGA ( www.diga.ch). They have a lot of wooden furniture and I bought my dining table there. The homepage does look a bit odd but most of the people actually working in the stores are carpenter so they know what they are talking about.
