For those who live in Lugano whats it like during June July August? Hot and humid? Comfortable? Uncomfortable? Would be interested to hear how it compares to Australian summers for those who have experienced both.
According to a couple of websites its hot and humid in summer not much different from a mainland Australian summer. Im not a fan of hot and humid summers which is why Im trying to move away from mainland Australia but Ticino and Northern Italy seem to have similar hot and humid summers to Australia.

Since when has the Australian mainland hot "hot and humid" summers. North cosat of NSW through Queensland yes but the rest is hot and definetly not humid in summer.

How could being in drought regularly during summer be called humid!!

I wouldn't describe normal summer weather here as "hot and humid", but when I think of "hot and humid" I'm thinking of Houston TX, not Australia as I've never been there.

Lugano at 46° north is further away from the equator than Australian cities:

Sydney 33.5° s, Brisbane 27.30° s, Perth 31.56° s, Melbourne 37.49° s.

So he sun is not as strong. The climate is mountain-Mediterranean. This means that although 250mtrs above sea level its close proximity to the south face of the Alps influences the climate.

Summers can be very wet when the south Foehn is blowing. This brings warm, dry sunny weather to he north and days of rain to the south. The reverse effect occurs with the rarely north Foehn.

Average summer temperatures for June, July and August are around 21°, but maximums can reach 35°. The climate is generally very comfortable in summer, but the general lack of air conditioning in Switzerland on environmental grounds may make Lugano seem hotter and more humid...

Being Scottish and thinking anything over 20 degrees celcius is majorly hot, I've managed to survive a Lugano summer without being too burnt to a crisp!

But yeah watch out for the lack of air conditioning in most places, the local buses are a dream though when it gets too hot, their air conditioning is so good I would go and sit on it all day just to get out of the sun...

I wouldn't say its humid, but this is based on just last summer.

But seriously, having lived in humid Illinois and Tennessee I'm very happy with the summer weather here, its nowhere near as hot and humid and there is also quite a bit of variability, so on the rare occassions when it gets muggy and over 32C you know its not lasting for an entire month...

I spent a few summers in Ticino. I gets fairly warm compared to Northern Switzerland, but rarely "hot" in an Australian sense (maybe 2-3 weeks of 32-35°). It's quite wet at the same time and rains often and heavily. What I liked most (like thousands of Swiss from the German speaking areas who spend hours in traffic jams to get to Ticino every weekend) is that you don't have as many cloudy days as North of the Alps.

Overall, quite comfortable as long as you don't mind the rain.

It doesn't rain very often at all here, it's one of the driest parts of Switzerland!

No - Ticino is the wettest part of Switzerland, rains about 3 times as much as in Valais which is the driest part.

Perhaps more total rainfall, but there are still more sunny days than anywhere else in Switzerland!

And, it's the least humid part as well.
