post stamper??

Hi,

How can i get rid of buying stamps and stick them on the letters (I usually send many letters!)? Is there any stamper to buy so then just by using that instead of sticking stamps it makes life easier!
What do hey call it here in zurich?

I am glad to hear that you have worked out how to post a letter and that now you are posting alot. Spiderman will be pleased.

The terminology you are after is 'Frankieren'

You can find out more info on the main page of here: http://www.post.ch/post-startseite

And to save you time asking, here is the site in english: http://www.post.ch/en/post-startseite just click on 'franking mail'

Re: post stamper??

Sort of. You can buy a machine, or they have a special introductory offer where you rent one from the post office.

Normally only businesses do this though. Do you send more than 10 letters every day? If not it is probably too expensive.

Information here, in English:

You send less than 10 letters a day and you can't just lick the stamps?

All the info is on the pages mentioned above, specifically here. It's for business customers, and it's expensive to set up.

Even if you buy/rent a stamping machine you still have to pay the same amount per letter for postage. So it's never cheaper than buying stamps. The only question is whether it will save you enough time to be worth the expense... if you were sending 500 letters per day it might, but since you send fewer than 10 letters per day it won't.

Did you know you can buy stamps online? You don't have to go to the post office to buy them every time.

You can use WebStamp:

Otherwise you're looking at something along these lines:

Hmmm.. away from my computer for a few minutes without pressing "Post Reply" and then already comment no. 16...

And here I thought they all were self-adhesive.
Nope, and the lickable ones are even mint-flavoured, for your licking pleasure!

I have some; my French was so non-existent upon arrival here that I did not know how to ask the clerk at the Post for the adhesive kind.

At the time, I considered it a major triumph just to have successfully purchased stamps of any sort.
