I went to school with a girl named Almirah. Are you sure you are allowed to sell people on Ricardo?

But seriously, what's an almirah?
I just googled it: an Indian cupboard

I am at work....and don't want to risk googling anything which was posted on the EF. I'm sure you certainly don't understand why.

Re: Ricardo Dispute advice

I think the payment rules are confirmed when you hit the 'bid' button. If you win then it's yours - no questions, no quibbles. You can't cancel it now unfortunately.

I have bought a few things on Ricardo and if you stick to the rules it's fine.

Ricardo do have a helpline and email support, why not see what they say? I believe they also have rules about collection so if the guy selling has broken the rules by not making it available within 7 days maybe you can get out of it.

Re: Ricardo Dispute advice

As to why the seller may want payment in advance without it being fishy:

Suppose that he is in fact moving, and is selling some of his furniture beforehand. Person wins the auction, but insists on paying on pickup, in April. April comes, person decides they don't want it anymore. Seller is stuck, no time to relist and sell it, has to either move it, leave it, or pitch it.

Requiring payment in advance, the buyer is hooked and the seller is covered. Seems legit.

I never thought of that. When you put it that way, it makes sense.
My advice, don't bid if you don't understand everything in the description. In this case, it seems that they specified when to pay and when to collect. That being the case, you are stuck with it.

Hi,
I am facing an issue regarding some stuff purchased from Ricardo.
The seller says the product can be collected only in April (mentioned in the bid) but askes me to pay within 14 days the complete amount.
I have told him that we will pay the amount when we come to collect the stuff but he says no. He said that the amount has to be paid in 14 days.

What should i do in this case?
Ricardo has a helpline,

you can either phone them for CHF1.00 a minute or send them an email

I believe payment terms with Ricardo are 14 days from bid finishing. No idea when the seller has to pay Ricardo the fee.
Seller may require payment in advance to ensure you will pick up in April.
Do you think he is going to do a runner with this item before April?
Perhaps you need to check the terms of the Ricardo insurance, believe it is something like 10% of the item price you loose on making a claim.

Re: Ricardo Dispute advice

I think this is sort of standard he was honest in saying that he would let youcollect in April but that pre payment was necessary...just pay up

Re: Ricardo Dispute advice

Mr Gupta, if in payment condition it is not mentioned about advance payment then dont pay till April. Phone him and try to settle the matter.
