Ladies out there - what perfume do you use?
I am at a loss for a new one have tried many, but to no avail.
I normally like the fruity, fresh kind for daytime - Clinique 'Happy' or Dior 'Addict Shine' - but don't want to buy these yet again. I don't like ozone smells, overly floral or cloying.
Please help!

Comptoir Sud Pacifique in three scents: Vanille Abricot, Vanille Coco and Vanille Banane. Sometimes, I'll mix all three.
They are totally unsexy scents that are sweet and reminiscent of a bakery. But people of all ages compliment my perfume - from little kids to my physician!

I love 'Angel' (chocolate/cinnamon) for evenings, so these could be just right.

Such a lovely topic!
Love perfume but am in no way an expert on the science (*yawn* ) behind it.
However, as everyone knows, it's a very individual thing because what might smell terrible on one person, could be the best scent ever on another.
That said, one of the best ever on me is a cheapo from Denner called "Tattoo" . A friend who works at my local store introduced me to it and at CHF9.95 if I remember rightly, there was not a lot to lose in trying it out.
How do I rate it as one of the best ever on me? Well, no word of lie, each time I wear it, it's almost guaranteed that in addition to a friend or colleague, a random stranger (male or female) will also make a positive comment and ask me what it is and where I got it from.
One of the nicest compliments so far was from a young Swiss dude who ever so politely stopped me as I was walking past him, closed his eyes and seemed to drift away into some scent nirvana for a few moments whilst muttering what a lovely perfume it was bla, bla, bla.
The bottle shape is pretty cool too. | | The following 2 users would like to thank isha for this useful post:

I am also quite fussy about the perfumes and I have to admit that I really feel sick if the perfume is too sweet; could turn my day upside down.
So, the one I use is Chloe (the first one which was on the market, not the newest "love" one) and Presence d'une femme by Mont Blanc. Got no doubts they are one of the best but also the most expensive... in Switzerland.

I also love the Chloe perfumes, both the orignal in the sq bottle and the new one called Love.
I have Chanel Allure but sometimes when I put it on I think it smells like Granny talcum powder. Other times, I really like it.
Same goes for Dior J'adore. I really like it somedays, but then other days it reminds me of the smell of hair removal cream. Weird.
The body shop scents are nice too, I used to wear them a lot when I was a bit younger, I used to love Neroli Jasmin, and Vanilla.
One smell that gets me is the White Diesel for men. When I was a teenager, my bf at th time used it and after we split up, if I smelt a guy walking down the street with it on. I'd usually stand still and start my break-up recovery all again. Nowadays, it kind of makes me feel a bit sick.

I hate these new candy scents that are swamping the market. Although maybe I hate them because women insist on putting so much of them on!
Have you tried Guerlain Acqua Allegoria scents? They have scents like Lime Basil and Mandarin, very fresh. Sadly not much staying power on me.
For something more "evening", Jaïpur by Boucheron might be an option, it reminds me of apricot.
My "scent style" is in a totally different direction. Currently I own: - Eau de Baux by L'Occitane, very woody, smoky scent with vanilla, great for winter
- Eau des Merveilles by Hermès, hard to describe, but also woody, with a hint of orange and it dries down to a lovely powdery scent with a bit of spice
- Escale à Pondichery by Dior, lovely for summer, light, but, you've guessed it, with a woody, cinnamon-like base
- Alchimie by Rochas, sadly discontinued, this one is vanilla based
- Theorema by Fendi - best perfume EVER, sadly discontinued (you just don't market a warm, foody, sensual scent with a black and white ad featuring a skinny, pale woman on her own)
- Angelique Noire by Guerlain, this is vanilla after a mad night out in a cigar bar
- Infusion d'Iris by Prada - starts off like shoe polish but dries down to smell like very expensive, floral soap
- Eau d'Orange Verte by Hermès, green, citrus scent that's lovely in summer
- Narcisio Rodriguez by Narcisio Rodriguez - not sure about this one yet, powdery with a woody base
- Herba Fresca by Guerlain - fresh cut grass with lemon zest, another great summer smell, only wish it would last longer
Then there are various others that I don't remember, usually bought by other people who think you can just give perfume to someone without checking back what you actually like. Not a fan of floral AT all and hate chewing gum scents.

J'adore for women by dior is my current fav.
When I was a lot younger I tried the vanilla you get from the Body Shop. Î would get comments that I smelled good enough to eat, like vanilla icecream... It worked when I was single but now as a Mum with small children, not so appropriate.

My signature perfume is Givenchy- Absolutely Irresistible.....always get compliments when I wear it. Haven't been able to find it in Switzerland so I make sure I get a bottle when I go home.
They do different versions of the Irresistible range throughout the year as well.
I also enjoy Hugo Boss - Sunset and Paco Rabanne - Black XS as it has slight undertones of chocolate mmmm.
Chanel No 5 always makes me think of my mum.
