Removing permanent marker from fabric

Sorry a boring post here, but I need to appeal to all the yummy mummy's out there. My daughter went a bit trigger happy with a permanent marker today and has got it all over one of her favourite toys..... and the bedroom wall.

Any ideas about how to best remove it, if possible, from fabric.

Re: Removing permanent marker from fabric

Is it a thick black one (clothing marker, felt tip) or a 'transparency' one (used for writing on plastic sheets that you put on an overhead projector). ?

Just watch out - if you use any sort of solvent the stain will spread through the fabric...my experience is that you probably can't remove it from the fabric, but hard surfaces should work out Ok (and you can always paint it later)...

Re: Removing permanent marker from fabric

In the local Müller they have lots of tiny bottles of stain specific stain remover for lots of different types of stains. You could look and see if they have something suitable?

Re: Removing permanent marker from fabric

Rubbing alcohol should remove most, if not all of the ink.

Since it is on fabric, I would suggest soaking another piece of clean white fabric (old t-shirt, cheese cloth, or even cotton balls) and blot the stain without rubbing, just letting the alcohol soak up the ink.

Not sure if this would work on your walls though, especially if it is flat paint.

Good luck.

Re: Removing permanent marker from fabric

If it's just whiteboard marker, then it's not 'permanent' marker.

It will mostly remove with water.
