Re: dishwasher V zug model questions

I would recommend checking out Miele. They are so much quieter* and clean better thanks to their cutlery drawer.

* our vZug one could be heard through the kitchen door, around the corridor to the lounge and bedroom. Now with an open kitchen we have a Miele and you can barely hear it in the lounge or upstairs.

Re: dishwasher V zug model questions

Why don't you go to Dipl Ing Frust, and ask them about the V-Zug machine models?

Have you noticed that V-Zug 55cm dishwashers cost around Sfr 1'000, but the Bosch 60cm machines cost around €600 in Germany?

If you can afford to, buy the Miele, it will last 15 years! You need the narrower 55cm model.

This one: http://www.miele.ch/ch/haushalt/prod...eler_24781.htm

I love the cutlery drawer and the "fein" wash for glasses. The racks are adjustable and i've even managed to get a full load of 12 white and 12 red glasses in there.

Friends that got a Bosch weren't happy at all - the machine beeps when the load is finished. I tend to put the machine on when I got to bed and that would annoy the heck out of me!

Re: dishwasher V zug model questions

My washing machine and dishwasher are both marked Adora S... does this mean I can wash my saucepans and socks together in either of them ?

Edit for MarieZug... mine beeps 16 times (I have counted, as I do the same as you) but then it stops :-)

Mine only lasted 11 years and I needed a new one. Guess I wash too much

I asked the previous owner why the kitchen was mixed between vZug/GE/Miele applianced. She said she had chosen the best each category and I have to agree. vZug for the cooker and oven, Miele for the dishwasher and GE for the American fridge. My place is 15 years old now and i've replaced the cooker and dishwasher with the same brands because I was really happy with them.

16 times!! I didn't think it was that many. I wonder who thought of that bright idea. No one needs to know when their dishes are done, generally we all do one load a day and need them again for breakfast.

I also have a V-Zug, and yes it beeps too much. The first set of beeps says its done and fairly dry, and if you ignore them, it continues heating until the stuff is completely dry. So you can save some money by opening the door after the first set of beeps.

Re: dishwasher V zug model questions

All my kitchen and washroom appliances are vZug and I have had dreadful experiences with them all. They regularly break down and each call out for the vZug engineer carries a flat rate of 80 chf just to get him to the house.

The microwave died irretrievably after 6 years. Given that it cost 1200 Chf, I was appalled and astounded. I bought a cheap as chips one from a supermarket in the UK 10 years ago and my sister still has it and it is going strong.

The cooker never cooks evenly, despite having been investigated and poked and prodded by the vZug engineer and the dishwasher and tumble dryer break down approximately every year. Even the fridge has not been immune to breakdowns .. including having to replace the chiller box door THREE times!

I bought the house with the appliances already there and little did I know that even at CH prices, I would have gained money if I had just replaced the appliances (then only 4 years old) when I bought the house.

We are in the process of building a new house and I am going for a mixture of Siemens, Bosch and Miele for my "white goods". Never ever will I let a vZug machine anywhere near my house!

Edit: I started this edit thinking that I had told a lie .. the one thing to never have broken down is the cooker extractor fan .. but then had a quick look and realised this is Wesco brand!

out of interest, how does one know which is the best? unlike small devices, you cant test them out in the shop beforehand, or examine the output on webpages...

Apologies! These ones are now 10 years old (but the previous owners who bought them had already had problems with the tumbler, washer and cooker as they gave us the documentation ..) so probably they are much more reliable now .. err .. hopefully.

An interesting point - vZug make very little of their own products .. I had the low down from the repair man on one of his very many visits when I was shocked to find that the microwave that had cost 1200 chf was made by Panasonic (and I bought a top of the range panasonic m'wave just before I left the UK - bad timing - and it was only .. 300). From recollection, I think they only make their own ovens .. but you need to ask vZug to check the actual details - but it's hardly a secret - I mean all the repair man did was remove the back panel from the m'wave and there on the inside was a big pansonic metal label screwed on declaring proudly "Made in the UK" . So much for reliable Swiss brands then ...

Re: dishwasher V zug model questions

We moved into our new house 9 years ago and the washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven and fridge are/were all V Zug Adora. The Adora line is not made by Zug, Zug has just put their name on it and it is their cheaper line. This is what the Zug service man has told me. Anyway, the washer and dryer were finished after 5 years. The dishwasher still runs, but the rubber seal around the door went after 2 years. The top element in the oven has not worked for at least the past 3years so you can only use the oven if the blower is on. Also, the enamel is stRting to flake off the outside of the oven door (around the edhe by the window). The plastic seal around the door of the fridge is all split and looks like hell and the freezer door did break off (but my fault as I forced it shut). I am not especially hard on the appliances so I would have to say that I think they are crap quality. We replaced the washer and dryer with Miele and are happy. Will replace the others, too, but waiting for them to die first.

There are many sites that compare them, such as http://www.which.co.uk/home-and-gard...g-dishwashers/

The quietness of the Miele is what sold them for me, but I do have an open plan house and felt that quieter one was worth the extra money.

I'm really happy with a GE fridge too - there's a nice heavy, quality feel about the doors and handles and the shelves are real glass, not plastic and the clip onto metal fittings inside.

Re: dishwasher V zug model questions

I've got V-Zug gear, and I actually find the dishwasher to be quite nice. Of course, it could just be that it's brand new as of last summer, and my previous apartment had a 10-15 year-old model...

For those that are complaining about the beep, just read your instruction manual. Ours did that too, but there's a button or series of buttons (I forget) to turn that "feature" off that made nighttime dish washing much more pleasant.

The V-ZUG dishwashers are true "Swiss Norm", 550x766mm.
The 766mm is the mesure from the underside of the top, to the top of the plinth. The mashine sits on the plinth!
The Miele dishwasher is at least 842mm high and stands on the floor!
If you want to change your V-ZUG for a Miele you must cut the plinth away.
I also find the Miele better.

Your question about the different V-ZUG models. THe Andora N is the basic model with everything one needs to wash dishes. The other models have expensive playthings which are 95% of the time, not used.
Salut Zmma

V zug Adora 55 N - Gi

any reviews are appreciated.
I have the Adora 55 S, bought new 4 years ago. So far, no complaints.

The difference between the N and the N-Gi is that the N-Gi has an internal height of 66.5 cm vs the standard 60 cm for the N.

The S has a few more wash cycles that the N doesn't have: Fondue/Raclette, Hygiene, and a timer if you want to have it start at some specific time.
