That is why I opt for the tour, which should be short enough so that my brain does not realize that the location it is in actually should be triggering claustrophic thoughts......

Re: Swiss secrets revealed

There is an old Swiss Army fort opposite Vallorbe (Towards south east of town) which is open on weekends, and every day in July and August. It is run by a preservation society. (We arranged for an English speaking guide).

There are also some interesting caves nearby.

and there is a museum of iron working, http://www.museedufer.ch/en/index.htm

And there are several others to visit in Switzerland http://www.schweizer-festungen.ch/links.htm

For visits contact the President of the preservation societies,
Contact for guided visits with the Society President Hansueli Frei
(Telephone 079 336 86 35), every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 11 am.
Mail: Stollenfuchs@bluewin.ch. Information in Internet: www.festung-oberland.ch

Re: Swiss secrets revealed

I heard that the Swiss airforce would have a base somewhere in a mountain in the Valais and that it can be visited. Anyone heard of this?

There are several decommissioned airfields - the last one to go was Turtmann. You can run around the runway all you want but the mountain innards are off limits.

Re: Swiss secrets revealed

Bad idea.

Putting bunkers in civilian looking buildings make real civilian buildings legitimate targets. They should be scolded for endangering the civilian population, and the cows in the real barns.

As long as you not mark any military installation with one of those signs it is o.k.

For ex:
