Bargain hunting

Hi all,

Anybody know specific shops (online included) where one is more likely to find bargains? Please include any information you have on seasonal sales and if any are happening right now.

I'd be interested in clothes, electronics and musical instruments.

Yeah, speaking of musical instruments - I find the retail mark-up on instruments in Switzerland to be very high compared to the US. Any tips on who offers good prices on guitars and accessories? This could be in Switzerland or elsewhere in Europe.

Re: Bargain hunting

www.musik-produktiv.ch near Lenzberg have a great range. You need a car to get there. They had a musical instruments flea-market a couple of weeks ago.

Guitars: Get ATA flight cases and import from US. Everything else: Stop whinging and just buy it.

There is another site too - www.musix.ch.
Never bought anything from them though.

Any recommended US sellers? I like Musician's Friend, but they don't ship here.

There are many sites in the USA for items you are looking for. The only one I know for sure ships overseas is http://www.efashionhouse.com. They will do personal shopping for you, too.

Re: Bargain hunting

You would be really surprised what you can pick up in some of the upmarket charity shops. I have seen designer clothes and musical instruments at knockdown prices in Geneva. I am sure that in Zurich you will find some shops there. And of course, someone else will benefit from your generosity.

Re: Bargain hunting

I just saw a poster advertising this large flea-market for all things musical in Roggwil next Sunday....

http://www.musik-flohmarkt.ch

The site is close to Roggwil-Wynau station. Local trains between Olten and Langehthal stop there.

Re: Bargain hunting

There are sales after Christmas and in the summer, and the discounts can be good, especially on clothes and electrical goods.
