| | | [Zurich, Baden] Photography Course/s
Greetings to everyone!
This is my first post in this forums website and it starts out as a question... do you know any good school/club offering photography courses somewhere in the area between Zuerich City and Brugg/Baden/Kanton Aargau? I am a newbie on this hobby that I want to improve on, so maybe a good course would be of great help.
Your inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!
I can't help out with courses (and there are definitely some on this forum who would know) but I can recommend a few groups in Zürich and Switzerland ... if you're on Flickr then zueriflickrdrinks and flichrmeetup are quite active and good for talking about equipment and techniques. There is also a Yahoo DigiFotoCH group.
A few weeks ago someone here organised a photowalk. The forum's search function should help you find more information.
Have fun!

Look out for photography get-togethers organised by people on this forum. A group of amatuer, and if I'm not mistaken even a couple of professionals meet up for photo walks. The idea is exchange knowledge and ideas.
There are also a number of Swiss Flickr groups. Search for links to them on the forum, I'm sure nksyoon will be able to point you in the right direction, why don't you PM him.

Eejit and Gooner, thanks for your replies... you are both fast!
Eejit, I have already subscribed to the 2 flickr groups you recommended, I hope both Admins for both groups would accept my invitation.
Gooner, I will PM nksyoon soon and would be interested in what he says.
Thanks a lot!

RyanValdez, the Züriflickrdrinks group is meeting tomorrow evening at the Zic Zac near Letzigrund - check out the thread in the flickr group for details.
There are various courses being run in the Zurich area but are in German. I know a professional in Winterthur who runs courses but only occasionally when he can fit them in around his work.
Cheers,
Nick

I used to run courses for Canon in the UK but now unfortunately have no time to continue them.
Migros Klubschule do photographic courses. They have courses in everything from using compact digital to editing your masterpieces.
Here's the search page for Zurich photo courses for example. To find one nearer to you, then click on "zurich - oerlikon" at the top left of the page to change it to a location nearer to you. http://www.klubschule.ch/framedef_1....E912AA142E2266 | | The following 2 users would like to thank Flashman4 for this useful post:

I came across this guy during my stints in various 'expats in ......'- groups on yahoo.
AFAIK, he also runs courses and as an American he's obviously fluent in english http://www.g5ive.de/eros_art/galerie...pic-show.shtml | | This user would like to thank EastEnders for this useful post:

Hi nksyoon, you are also fast, I did not have to PM you anymore. ;-)
I will check on the Züriflickrdrinks group then but unfortunately, I cannot join tomorrow... if I would have known earlier then I could have committed to it first.
I hope there is still a next time when I could join.
Good day!

Flashman4 and EastEnders,
Thanks for your recommendations. I would definitely check the websites you attached.
Gooner,
I will check Scott's website first, then probably contact him about my question on courses.
Enjoy the rest of the day!

Hi delu!
Sorry for the late reply. Just came in from a long vacation. Basically, I decided to exhaust other options in the internet and did the course by myself: self-study.
I hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi,
I'm new to Switzerland.
I am looking for a photography forum where I can buy camera bodies and lenses.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Hi there Ryan
Do you remember where your photographic course on line was
was it on line?
How did you self study. I’m looking to do an internship / collage, anything really that involves holding a camera and taking photos, Living in Zug and not having allot of luck.
How did your career progress in photography?
Regards Dan

Hi asidscript,
Finally I did a self-study by practice-shooting. Photography is a hobby and travel-co-activity for me so it's not something I built on for career.
In my opinion, you just have to learn the starter concepts about : aperture, shutter-speed and iso (lots of readings in internet). Then the most important factors are framing and lighting (with or without flash/es). The rest, you will figure out as you shoot and you will discover in the long run what subjects interest you the most.
Enjoy! | Quote: | | | | | Hi there Ryan

If you are looking for this type of course I can highly recommend the courses run by Karlnmik. I learned a lot about photography on his 8 week course. | Quote: | | | | | Hi asidscript,

A personal friend of mine ('disclaimer') runs the Viewfinder Center for photography, offering courses of various levels in Zurich. Maybe worth looking into.
