Classical music corner

Hello all,
After the poetry venture, I also propose this classical music page where one can put up their favorite classical pieces with audio or video links and discuss the same.. (any classical music, be it western, Indian, Persian..just pure music).. Any takers?

One of my absolute favorite is the second part of Orff's Carmina Burana, In Taberna.

From Wikipedia:
II – In Taberna In the Tavern 11. Estuans interius Latin Seething inside baritone 12. Olim lacus colueram Latin Once I swam in lakes tenor, choir (male) 13. Ego sum abbas Latin I am the abbot of Cockaigne baritone, choir (male) 14. In taberna quando sumus Latin When we are in the tavern choir (male)

Oh I so hate you musicchiccccccc.... Dvorak's New world is a gem... But you missed out on the 4th mvt. Iconic music

Yet another piece: Die Hebriden (The Hebrides Overture) also called Fingals cave ... by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy

The second is an art in itself..

Today's piece : Third of the Rasumovsky Quartett by Beethoven....

I can wax pages of lyricals about this piece... My favourite... Simply breathtaking... especially the first and second movements... Listen to this.. and trust me it will make you want to listen once more and once more and once more... forever... The beauty ...

Beauty is music, music beauty—that is all.
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.'

Believe me.. you will shed copious tears of joy...

I will never forget my three semesters of history of British muzzak..My great English prof, with old tennis sneakers and dirty animal ties, taking us through centuries and audio desserts

This is one of the things that stuck in my head for years

@Kamarate: A horn... or a flute... but I think its a horn...

Today's pieces come all the way from South India... Amazing music olayed using an amazing instrument.... Just listen to these... Pure bliss... It is better off to listen and not describe it in words, for if I try to do so, I will definitely fail... The nature of art taken into a heavenly sphere laced with melody.

You might just be right there...

EDIT: If you get to listen to the whole Konzertstück by Schumann it's just lovely. In my opinion, there's nothing that sounds nicer than a horn quartet.

You are obviously biased there... I am musing whether the bias has its seeds in you being a horn practitioner or Schumann's is the piece you would like to show your expertise on..

But anyway, kindly listen to the two pieces I've posted above... I am sure that anyone who knows and adores an iota of classical music will love it...

Was that for my benefit? Thank you very much!

And just to say I remembered what the word for "big gong" was - tam tam. Phew, that feels better!

Re: Classical music corner

Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis - Ralph Vaughan Williams

Lights out, eyes shut, and just get absorbed by the music.
