Kayak or float-tubing for fishing allowed?

Hello all!

I am a keen fisherman and have looked at some of the posts regarding fishing in Switzerland. I have a few strange questions regarding fishing in Lake Geneva:

1) May I use a float-tube on the lake intself (near the sides)?
2) May I use a kayak on the lake at all? (Which I will fish from).
3) May I use my waders to wade in the water?
4) Finally - what is the fishing (especially fly-fishing) like from the side in winter? Do people even fish in winter there?

These are weird questions to ask, as in most countries and lakes it is assumed as allowed, but with these Swiss I am sure there are probably lawbooks written about just waders and wading.

Thanks for any answers!
Best!

I think you will find that drowning is strictly prohibited during daylight hours and may result in fine or ban or both. Drowning licences are available during office hours Mon-Fri 0730-1130 1330-1630, which can be exercised within one year of purchase.

Thanks! That info is about as useful as signing your name after each post, in case we can't figure out that "Dave" is in fact "DaveA"s first name.

Its not my name. Even in forum posting there is a certain etiquette. Of course you don't need to sign your posts, or even write them in fact.

Get an Ocean Kayak Drifter or Prowler. Plenty of storage space, stable and large enough with sufficient legroom for a big guy and his tinnies. Came close to buying one to double as a base for snorkelling and fishing, but other things took priority.

Thanks, I was just kidding you of course. I was initially annoyed when I saw you are using the name Dave, as I really wanted to use it. Even though it is not my name either. (Kidding again.)

Talking about snorkeling - and here my question gets even weirder.
I have seen the water in Lake Geneva to be crystal clear, and I know there are scuba diving in the lake - but what about snorkeling? Do people ever snorkel in the lake?

I have not seen many people snorkeling in lake Zürich except kids close-in. There does seem to be a determined diving community. "mark" can tell you more about this as he represents zurich divers.

Its bloody cold in the lake and for me the hassle of a wetsuit, exceeds the satisfaction of snorkelling around here, even though I used to do it lot when I lived somewhere warmer...

Fishing on the other hand requires sunshine, a hat and a straw, fishing rod, a six pack and a ukelele or harmonica. Your leisure day is thus complete.

You could try looking on here for some info http://geneva.angloinfo.com/countrie...nd/fishing.asp

However, most of it is in French. So not sure if that's much help
