True. It's a minor crime (Uebertretung) up to a value of CHF 300. This will not be shown in the criminal record.

The fine is usually three times the value of the goods but a minimum of CHF 150.

Thank you to everyone who is helping this young lady. I read her posts with tears in my eyes, she is so devastated by what has happened, this incident was obviously nothing more than a simple mistake, a moment of forgetfulness.

It's a great pity that someone from Migros or the police will not read this thread, I think they would realise how genuinely terrified the poor girl is and how purposefully taking something without paying would be the last thing she would do.

Dear OP, please let us know when you get the letter from the Staatsanwalt. The decision there will be based on the Police report of the incident. Hopefully this will have taken int account your circumstances.

We should bear in mind a lot of retail outlets now have standard policies of involving the authorities in such cases.

If this ius first time, then nothing more happens than the intial Chf 100.-- fine and they record and keep your details on record for 2 years. Providing nothing happens withing the next 2 years, from the date of incidence, the slate is wipped clean.

As you already paid a fine, (Chf100.--) they should not do anything else. The letter will come to your addres. If you don't want your husbands to know, destroy the letter and be very careful in the future.

If itr was a genuine mistake which i tgedn to think it was, i suggest you tell him sometime soon and explain. You ARE NOT a thief, it was a lapse of memory and thsat all, could haspen to anybody.

That is rather strange! I shop regularly at the Baden Bahnof migros and a couple of weeks back something similar happened. I was asked to go to the customer care and i told them what had happened and they didn't say anything at all - just paid up and I left.

I do feel sorry for what happened and all the mental trauma you are undergoing because of this. Forgetfulness is human and it is very mean of Migros staff to have called the police and charged a case for mere oversight. it happens all the time with mothers when the little ones go cranky!

i called them yerterday.
they gave the number of baden branch. i called them also.they said they will try to fine some person who can help me atleast can give proper information about that. i will call them again and let you know what happen
