Hotel needed in Altstetten Zurich

After receiving lots of help concerning the first aid course and driving licence etc for us English speakers here. I managed to book my daughter on the next course which is in October. To save on travelling I would like to book her into a hotel near the training centre.
Being a total Zurich virgin, I have lived in Switzerland for two years and never have I visited this fair city, does anyone know of a decent hotel in the area of Altstetten? Any recommendations would be gratefully received....

Re: Hotel needed in Altstetten Zurich

Thanks Lob, that has been a great help, not knowing the city at all I could have booked her into a place miles away. What is the area like around there? Safe or a bit dodgie?
Any clues

Oooh, she'll be alright. It's rarely dodgy in Switzerland like it can be in other countries and Altstetten is a busy enough place. She may need a Gentlemanly Chaparone to offer his services. A friendly Uncle character, perhaps. Hmm... ( )

The ibis or the even cheap etap at hardbrücke are easy, clean and cheap options, and theres a bit of a buzz in that area at night. 3 mins by train to Alstetten from Hardbrücke.
dave

PS: Theres the intercontinental and Stoller on Badenerstr., but they ain't cheap.

Re: Hotel needed in Altstetten Zurich

She's 19, right? The hip-happening popular music dancehall and bar that is the Limmat Pal X-tra (she'll have heard of it) directly on Limmatplatz has a rather swish and affordable hotel...upstairs! I've had a look around and it's très bien (that means nice, nice). It's a little bit more of an interesting neighbourhood for younger people - and us oldies - than Altstetten and has great transport links to get her to class on time. Why not get her to bring a friend for the last night, if it's a Friday? That'd be a blast.

http://www.x-tra.ch/ (don't include breakfast, plenty of great cafes in the area, inc. the yummiest Italian delights this side of the Gottardo; PM me for more)

Treat her nicely, she'll be nervous. And she'll thank you for it.

Re: Hotel needed in Altstetten Zurich

Thanks for your your help and advice, yes she is 19 and although I am a Zurich virgin she is not and has been there on nights out before, so for her this is just an extended adventure. I have now booked a hotel and will relax...........

if she's fit, some of the desperate single boys will, I'm sure, offer to chaperone her during her stay

Oh Lob, the fit girls are hardy and used to dispatching the cold shoulder. It's the Emo, geeky ones that need protecting

All girls need protecting but then I think it is the older ones who have been sheltered who are most at risk...
