| Hey everybody!
I just moved to Basel! It is beautiful here, but everything is new and brings different challenges with it...
One thing that is really bothering me is that I cannot find a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Re-Certification course here. My WFR expires in January 2013. I am learning German (just barely started!) so the course would have to be in English. Feels like I am asking for the moon! | |

Never heard of that one - is it an american one? We nned to do similar things for our Ski Instructor licences, and generally have done those run by the
British Association of Ski Patrollers, who often run one or two course in the alps in conjunction with Ski Instructor training run by
BASI . Not always easy to find out if and where they'll be, but probably the closest to what you're used to, focussing on outdoor first aid in remote areas.
Do post here if you find any other options, as we're always interested to try different providers.
Other than that, the Swiss-run courses we've done have been more like ones I attended as a Boy Scout (run by the British Red Cross or St. John's Ambulance) and really are aimed at motorists or workers. Sometimes I'm aware that courses are run in the mountains, with more of an outdoor focus, but I think you'd need to be a member iof, or have contacts in, a ski school or club, an alpine club, or something similar, to be able to organise attendance.
