Something I'm not so used to where I come from, seasonality
Thought I'd add some tips for the Swiss autumn. Feel free to add more.
Sauser - Grape juice on its way to being red wine. Still sweet as only a small amount of sugar has fermented to alcohol. 1.5% to 5% alcohol content I think. Served in a lot of bars and restuarants this time of the year. Saw it PET bottled in Coop last night. Odd but you can develop a taste for it.
Ski & Snowboards - Sports departments have a super clearance on last years models (or earlier) that they couldnt sell at last season end. Stores such as Athleticum, Ochsner Sport and Manor are good for this. I picked up a new board & bindings and boots (as new ex-rental) for chf320 (CHF850 full price). Which is fine for a kook snowboarder like me and saves the rental hassles. Then patiently wait for January.
Fondues - As integrated Swiss we all know that Fondues are for winter, right? If you want a cheap fondue set for occaisional use, go to a large Migros now! They bulk sell good sets for chf30-40. Come November, these will all be gone and you'll be back to the more pricey options of buying pieces or a quality/designer set.
