help? guys? [Dating advice needed to "get back on the market"]

hi

im registered as another name on this forum as well but this is too embarrassing to post normally. tho you guys will surely get a laugh out of it...

ive been in a relationship since 10 years and we broke up around half a year ago. in those six months i realized - not only have i been off the market for too long, ive never even been on it.

would any of you more experienced guys be willing to help me out a bit? how to get started?

Paul

Re: help? guys?

You might want to enjoy this quote from the EF support:

Can I use more than one account on the English Forum?

No. Please note that the use of multiple usernames is not permitted nor appreciated. Why? We offer you a reasonable level of anonymity, but we do expect people not to operate on this system with multiple personalities. The practice of using multiple personalities is open to abuse and ultimately undermines the level of trust that other users may have in the system.

i hope the admins will understand the situation, knowing so many people already it is not anonymous at all!

Re: help? guys?

Personally, I think that EF'ers should be able to use an alternative profile if they want to create a thread in which they wish to remain anonymous. For example, sometimes someone might want to ask a question about a health issue but not want all their EF friends knowing it's them.

Anyways... Paul, I wish you much luck in finding new love!

Psst... Mods might already be sleeping! Given mitigating circumstances I would imagine this thread lives few more posts and sees the daylight before it will demises behind the padlock.

That's very much depends on which hand is non-occupied while typing.

Well, I'm not an admin, but the decision comes down to the mods so I can help there. I'll pass it around the Mods' Common Room and see what my colleagues say. (My vote is to let this pass, just this once, but to ask "yakari" to post only in this thread.)

Forensic analysis: Due to the use of the phrase "since 10 years", I'd guess that yakari is a native German speaker. And he's been in a relationship for ten years. Brilliant, huh?

That's all I've got.

Pub/bar, late on a Saturday night. Select most pissed girl in the room ('cos pissedest isn't a word). Buy her another drink. Repeat. Get coat(s), carry her out.

and thank you for the correction and reminder, too. german is not my mother tongue but it does seem to have crept in!
Brilliant nonetheless.

Re: help? guys? [Dating advice needed to "get back on the market"]

You're asking guys how to get girls. Presumably this just means you want to score as opposed to a real relationship. Cuz the average guy doesn't have a clue about that. Usually it's luck. If that's not the case, you're probably better off asking the girls for help.

#sarcasm, in case some of you late-night guys missed it.

Re: help? guys?

I take it you had no sisters or female cousins, many men have this problem & it shows.

It is no harm to ask female colleagues for advice.

One thing it is easier to say online is check your hygience, including breath.

If you have been in a relationship for 10 years, maybe time for some wardrobe changes n haircut.

Start new activities, visit different places, different shops.

Take part in more group activities.

Be polite, consider and HUMOUR it all important

hi there, if you know the old fashioned way, that's a start. I dont' think it has changed a lot. If you see a girl that you like, smile, try to engage a chat with her, if there is any sparks, ask for her phone number. call her to invite her to go for a drink together. Don't send her too many texts messages, and surely not one every day, it is too suspicious and it fades away quickly. If it goes well, then you can invite her to the restaurant or to go for a walk, so you can see her during the day, not only at night time and then, you will know what to do next...
