| | | Sick and tired of the weather in Switzerland
I have been living here for over a year now and even though i love the life i have here i am really sick and tired of the weather. And by sick i mean literally sick. This is the second winter here and i have a cold every single day. Besides that, the sun barely shines over here. It is sooo depressing. I miss the sunshine I never thought that sunshine would have such a huge impact on one's mood.
Am I the only one in this situation?

Plenty of choice in fact. Places where you'd get to love the life there too.

It's called "Bern-out". Best bet is a visit (or move) to the sunnier cantons, such as Basel. Lovely sunny day. You can see from the webcams here: http://meteo.search.ch/basel | | This user would like to thank NotAllThere for this useful post: | |

The Swiss weather, Zurich region, is an active Brits dream.
To go from 9months of rain and misery, 2months of freezing cold, and 1 month of possible sunshine but normally just a bit less grey and rainy then the rest of the year to a 4 month cold but solid snow season (SKIIIIIIIIIIIIII), and a 3 month summer of consistent sunny days is paradise.
Wouldn't change it for the world.

Ah, Basel. The place to be. | | | | | statistically the sunniest town in Switzerland.
Look on the bright side - at least this country is not crippled at the mere thought of snow.

It's subtly different weather to the UK, bit more predictable. What I wasn't used to when I came here was the extreme humidity; 100% in summer and 0% in winter. We had our kitchen installed in the summer, and now it is visibly 1% smaller, as the wood has shrunk.
What always gets me when I go back to the UK is the wind..

Anywhere near lakes and mountains is foggy in Winter, except Geneva to Vevey.
The lamps do work, you might get one second hand as they are expensive.

Am I the only one in this situation? | | | | | Every place in the world is pretty in its own way. But there is always a trade off. Switzerland has some great features, but right now I miss the sunshine as well....and I've had a runny nose for about a month, nonstop.
Oddly enough, when I first moved to Arizona, I started to miss the rain. There are +300 days per year of sunshine there, but after a while you just start wishing for a rainy day. Oh wait, it's also +40 degrees C in the summer |

But i will give those lamps a try if i find an affordable one.

| | | | | Geneva is currently under a blanket of grey fugginess.... and it'll last for about three months.
It's happened every year since I moved here (in 1980), and usually lasts from early January to late March so sadly Geneva's definitely not an exception.
We'll get the odd sunny day, but this is the norm. And it's damned depressing at times!

One idea from me. Buy a ticket to Costinesti you'll not find a job there but probably the sun.
