So I've been here 6 weeks and it's about that time again, only I don't know where to go here, and after hearing horror waxing stories, I'm not game to just show up to any old beauty salon!

So, can anyone make a recommendation?

Perhaps I was a little naive, but I expected to find a thread about furniture. Or cars.

Actually I did not find any good waxer in basel, so I am going to Saint Louis in France, much cheaper! They are several beauty centers there, I am going to Quick epil, no appoitements, pretty cheap and funny girls!

I went to get my wax at Pure Aveda and it was amazing to say the least. Everyone spoke pretty good english, there's even an english version of their website and their "menu", the price was good (CHF 60 for either a "Brazillian" or a "Hollywood", just beware though, a Brazillian here is not the same as a Brazillian in Australia, I found that out once I was lying waiting for my wax, and the girl I had wasn't experienced enough to do a Hollywood, but they did a really good job of sorting everything out, regardless of the fact it was my mistake, and at absolutely no extra charge).

Plus you get a 20% discount if you are a student, or 10% off if you work for any of these companies.

I was at the place you suggested in St. Louis and had a very bad experience. I have little time as I am a full time working mum, so I do not have many occasions for myself. I was there and the receptionist girl was really nice, and I asked for a full leg wax, with bikini. She insisted on having my nails done as well, and also my eyebrows, so I said, why not! We started from the nails, the girl that looked after that was really"unpleasant" I speak a fairly acceptable French, but every time I started to make some conversation she did not answer or answer badly! I asked if she was from St Louis, and she said no. So I asked which part of France she was from and she answered, a part that is not St. Louis!!!!!
But what was worse is that after the nails were finished (and I did not account for the time, but it took long) they said that had no time for the wax and sent me home! I was really disappointed because I was desperate for the wax!!! What is even worse is that they applied to the nails a gel (uv curing enamel) and she said that if I want it removed when it will start to damage I will need to go there as there is no solvent capable of dissolving it! Being a chemist I am first of all worried about the nasty stuff currently staying on my nails. But also I am trying to find out how to remove it without having to go there again, as I have no time for that, and secondly I do not want to see that place anymore. Please help!!!
