We are hoping to move to Switzerland during the course of this year. My 13-year old daughter is quite anxious to know what life is like in Switzerland. Does anyone have a 13- or 14-year old daughter who would share opinions & her point of view on life in Switzerland?

Where abouts are you moving to in Switzerland and can your daughter speak German? My children are to young but i know lots of familys with teenage children i could put her in contact with

Thanks for the quite response, Sutter. We dont know where yet, but most likely in the german part, around Zurich. No, she will still have to learn swiss german & can only speak english & afrikaans right now.

When are you planning on moving here? If you like i can arrange for your daughter to meet some teenage girls that is as long as its not to far from where we live.

I just moved here from New Zealand 6 weeks ago, with 3 x girls (10 and under), and they didn't speak German before they arrived.

They are enjoying it here and are learning the language with enthusiasm.

The school system puts them in special German-for-foreigners school classes first, and their teacher expects that they will attend normal school after only 6 months of language lessons.

PS: we're just outside Zurich, in Winterthur.
