Hi All,

My girlfriend is getting 'mildly miffed' at not being able to walk into a Nail Bar and just ask for a simple pamper, her manicure and pedicure.

Does anyone know an English speaking manicurist near central Basel who will not whitter on about 'medical' pedicures - she simply wants pretty nails and toes....and all the attention.

Also could the English Forum milk monitors stop emailing me if I happen to include a typo - this really infuriates lol

Pure Aveda on Freiestrasse is about the only place I trust at this point BUT it's quite expensive...something you just have to get used to here.

There is another one in Claraplatz but i don't know anything about the price.

Try Harmoniza on Freiestrasse just above the Starbucks. It is quite a nice place and a full service spa, nails, waxing, etc. They also have reasonable prices.

This thread is a couple of years old now, and I desperately need a pedicure.

Has anyone lately found a place that is affordable and clean (I don't like staph infections) that they enjoy going back to?

I went to Harmoniza on Saturday. The price was great for a mani/pedi, but I was a bit shocked that, for the pedi, there wasn't a reclining vibrating massage chair. My initial thought was not to go back there again -- I can soak my feet in a plastic tub at home. Right?

But... despite the discomfort of the pedi, she was VERY thorough. I haven't had a pedicure that intense in a long time, and that is exactly the type of service I am looking for. The massage part wasn't to the knee though. It was just to the ankle, which I can't really complain about.

The place I tried in Rheincenter was much more comfortable, but the service was lousy and the technician very superficial in her technique.

I will always prefer Vietnamese pedicures but this Brazilian place left me satisfied. 1.5 thumbs up.

I was at Harmoniza Beauty and Mind, yesterday, Wednesday 12 October 2011 for a Manicure. It is the best manicure I have had in years since arriving in Switzerland. I was completely pampered and have beautiful hands again. The prices are exceptionally reasonable for Basel!

I have only had a Manicure so far, but I have already scheduled the next, plus a Pedicure. I am sure I will be just as happy.

The ladies are funny, and care about their clients. I was offered coffee and water. Ahhh.... just like being at home again. The owner speaks English, French, Italian, Spanish (Portuguese) and German; and that was just as I was sitting there. J

I went to Harmoniza yesterday, based on these recommendations - lovely ladies, very thorough pedicure and French manicure came to 75 CHF, which I understand is very reasonable here. I don't have much experience of this stuff, but am impressed with the results, and as I said, the ladies there were lovely.

I went to Harmoniza about 2 years ago to have my nails done (gel nails) and I have to admit that although there are pretty nice ladies working there, especially the owner, the price was a bit too much though...130CHF!
I like to do my nails every month but starting to pay this amount made me decide not to go back there again.

The place above Vapiano is quite nice. I did try it for the first time last week. The guy is from Vietnam and is very nice. His English is not perfect but you can still understand each other. And the price was much better...70CHF for the same gel manicure job. I will definitely go back there again.
