Magazine Subscriptions

Hi Everyone,

I searched and wasn't able to find anything in the posting archives. Does anyone have any tips on how to order a magazine subscription from the states? Is it possible? I am addicted to SI, and I can't seem to find out how to order it on-line. All of the subscription websites say it is not possible. Any suggestions?

Ray

Re: Magazine Subscriptions

I went to the website you suggested but Switzerland is not listed in the list of countries where it says submit on the 1st page and click here

I was on that page already. If you look at the top of the page, it says that it is only for 'select' countries. Switzerland is not on the list.

Thanks -- looks like most of these are in German/French, correct? I need to step up my language classes. *sigh*

you should have made this clearer. I think it was reasonable to assume that many people would only look on the first page they find.

Phone a Friend? You can then get them to forwards 1/2/3/4 a month or something?

Re: Magazine Subscriptions

Why don't you try write them to the address from Lob's link? Tell them that if they deliver to just about every neighboring country from Switzerland, surely they'll find a solution (lazy bums)!

Another idea is to ask the kiosk at Zurich mainstation (or any kiosk) if they have SI. They will reserve you a copy if you ask. I'm not sure but maybe they'll even offer you a real subscription and send it by post.

Re: Magazine Subscriptions

I would suggest calling the subscriptions department of the magazine and asking personally. I had several magazines from the States sent over to Hong Kong and despite the fact that they got stolen along the way most of the time, I had them delivered there.
good luck

Re: Magazine Subscriptions

Or try Zinio
http://www.zinio.com/

You can subscribe online and download a virtual version of the magazine. Not the touchy feely paper version, but you still get all the information.

Even better: if they don't have it, they can order it.

They have this 'puter print-out with all mags/rags on it where they mark which and how many they want to order from their distributor. Just make sure you show up religiously to pick up your copy, else they put it out on the stands and if it doesn't sell at all, stop ordering it.

Re: Magazine Subscriptions

I've not found an issue of Sports Illustrated at the big kiosk in the main station after a search today, it probably doesn't matter where you ask for an order or subscription.

Re: Magazine Subscriptions

I cannot believe the prices some of these companies are charging for delivery to Switzerland

Personal Computer World - CD
12 issues £26.00 UK delivery.
12 issues £95.00 European delivery.
http://www.isubscribe.co.uk/title_in...=26&prodID=731

I've quite tempted to give my brother 12 pre-paid envelopes and have the subscription delivered to him instead
