Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

has anyone tried this:

http://www.zzm.uzh.ch/patienten.html

You can go without an appointment in the morning. Their taxpunktwert is 3.40 whatever that means.

But since it is within the University of Zurich realm, it might be a bit more "affordable"?

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

Hi,

I visited SwissSmile in Zurich HB about 1 month ago. Have to say despite the expensive looking surroundings I think the price (for Switzerland) was very reasonable.

The dentist determined i needed three fillings (I hadn't had any in a long time) and these were done in an hour long appointment and cost about 600 CHF.

The hygienist was about 150 CHF I think and the appointment was nearly 1 hour long.

I think they are very thorough here, but also very professional. The dentist told me that I didn't need to be seen for another 12 months - so I didn't get the impression they were after taking the money from me regularly unless there was a reason.

Happy to recommend them.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

I use practice Heinz Egli in Klosbachstr 8032 (tram stop Romerhof)
He speaks perfect English and his billing is Very reasonable, he is a very "user friendly" dentist and never does any unnescesary work, which seems to happen often in CH.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

Very useful thread! I'm looking for a good (and honest) dentist in Zürich.
I'm tempted to go to Dr. Stefan Paul, but I can't find his TPW and, even more, I can't find him amongst the dentists in doktor.ch, http://www.doktor.ch/zahnaerzte/zahnaerzte_o_zu.html.
Did anybody have a recent interaction with him? Any comment, charges wise?

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

Most dentists speak pretty good English, since it is the main language in Dentistry. Concerning the tax point, don't let that sway your opinion. THis does not determine the real cost. When it comes to keeping your teeth healthy, visit your hygienist regularly (most adults all 6 months), floss your teeth, don't smoke and find the best dentist you can find. A poor dentist will place poor restorations, which will cost you more, in the end. If you prevent disease and have quality care, you will save your teeth, and your money!!! Believe me, as I have worked in 5 countries for countless dentists. You lose money by losing your teeth....not to mention a value part of your psyche and body.

A dental hygiene appointment costs between 150 and 200 chf per appt, without x-rays. Best value for your money. (ALWAYS ask for a professional "DH"...)

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

I also visited SwissSmile in Zurich HB recently for repair work on a broken tooth and found them to be quite competent. It was good to be able to get an appointment on short notice and their working hours are also very convenient (open till 21:00 on weekdays, as well as most of the day on Sat & Sun). The cost for my treatment was not cheap but did not seem to be out of line with normal rates for Zurich.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

Two of Zürich SwissSmile's best dentists left them, to open a practice across the street (and above ground), at Bahnhofplatz 9. They are Dr. Nadya Marey and Dr. Roland Glauser.

Since December 1st, I have incorporated my Dental Hygiene Practice into their office. It was a GREAT decision. They are super nice, professional and absolutely correct with their patients. While they are not open 365 days per year, they do have flexible hours. Most important, their quality of care is excellent and their prices are reasonable. I am delighted to be there and look forward to seeing my EF patients.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

Hi guys,
i have recently moved to Zürich and since iam a student i could not spend a lot on dental treatment. A friend of mine draw my attention to Easydent zaharztpraxis in ungarn dental clinic which is located at 8051 Herzogenmühlestrasse 14.
The clinic operates in zürich as well as in hungary where the treatment are much cheaper then in zürich.
I had 2 fillings done in zürich and a molar implant in hungary. I have paid 1500 CHF for the whole tretment inc. flight and hotel in budapest.

So i can highly recommend them to everyone

Has anybody had any experience with a Dr Axel Zander in Rueschlikon? I probably need a root canal and filling of a Molar. He has estimated about 1200 franks for the proceedure ( over two visits)

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

I go to Dr. McDermott.

http://www.terancemcdermott.com/

He's American (from South Dakota) and there's a dental hygenist there (Christine) who's from Ohio so both speak perfect English. ;-)
They're really friendly and I'd definitely recommend going there.
The office is near Kreuzplatz.

It's not the cheapest dentist in town, but I would still recommend.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

I went to these guys last week. I got a check up with xrays for CHF 127.00

Pretty cheap I would say. Also I made the appointment just one day before. Really friendly guy and the secretary said he speaks English too. I spoke German with him but he is German so I would say he does speak reasonably well as most Germans do...

Any recommendations for an English-speaking doctor that can remove a wisdom tooth for a reasonable price?

I would definitely recommend Dr Mettler. He's really professional, but at the same time he makes you feel relaxed. I used to be afraid, but had no problem changing my last 2 fillings. The location is also perfect.

I recently went to the new zahnarztzentrum.ch at Sihlporte. Dentist and hygienist both spoke perfect English and all their equipment is brand new. Cost for check up and clean was around 300chf. Hygienist was very thorough.

I wanted to say that Dr Marey is excellent. I had an emergency filling a few months ago and with Susan's help, i was able to get right in. I have a lot of old fillings that need to be replaced and we're doing them slowly. I think Dr Marey is really good, fast and I've had very little pain. Their prices are reasonable for composite fillings, and reasonable for Switzerland, and Susan did a great job with the cleaning and basic exam.

I would highly recommend Dr. Gabriel Toth and his dental practise. All staff members speak fluent english (the dentist had worked 2.5 years in England before he came here, dental hygienist is Canadian), they are super nice, professional and absolutely correct with their patients. Despite the fact that dentist in Switzerland are quite expensive the prices in this practise are very reasonable.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

We would recommend Dr Marey at Cosmodent in Bahnhofplatz for all dentistry, she's extremely calm and patient with anyone who's nervous with going to the dentist, as I am and speaks excellent English.

I can also highly recommend Susan Schlessinger who is their amazing Dental Hygienist who we've been going to for several years now.

Re: Looking for a Dentist in Zürich

Since getting to Wohlen was a pain, I switched to a more local dentist and I'm really happy. The checkup and clean (with x-ray) was done by one of the dentists and came in at CHF 154. She spotted a cavity that needed doing and said it would be around CHF 300. In the end, they spent just over an hour fixing the cavity and it cost me around CHF 250, which was much less than I expected for a dentist and assistant working for one hour.

I'm a bit scared of dentists and the anaesthetic doesn't always work but they were really understanding.

The practice is called Zahnärztezentrum im Glattpark, it's just outside Oerlikon. They are also open on Saturdays, so no missing work if you book soon enough.
