The elusive oven rack....

I'll preface this with a disclaimer: I know where to buy bath towels in Geneva.

Any recommendations on where I can buy an oven rack? It's for a small Zug oven. I've tried Coop City, the local hardware store, but no joy. I am located in Zurich. If you know if a cooking equipment type of place, please let me know. It's driving me bonkers that I cannot seem to find one anywhere.

While it may not necessarily be the cheapest option, it may be most convenient to look on the manufacturer's website and/or contact them directly in order to online order the correct rack for your oven.

You will want to be sure that the rack is the correct one, especially if you are renting, as the oven will be inspected thoroughly upon your move-out.

If you rent, you might also check to see if your landlord will cover the replacement, or a new rack if there was not one there to begin with.

Best disclaimer I've seen in a while. Nicely done.

Re: The elusive oven rack....

Why not contact Zug company- that way if you give the model, you are sure to get the right size. Or you can buy an extensible one, and use the screws provided with it to make it to the right size for your oven. Or take accurate measurements and go to a shop like Fust (Coop) or Interdiscount, M Migros, etc.

I've got one as I have 2 ovens different sizes.

Do you mean a shelf? If so then it would normally only be available with the oven, or supplied as a replacement by the manufacturer. You might get lucky if you measure the exact size, if you've got one already, and find another marque that would fit, but often there's more than just size differences to take into account.

We had quite a few old ones kicking about for years, some of which were usable with newer ovens, some were not. I think most, if not all, got thrown out a while back though.

Zug after sales service:

http://www.vzug.com/ch/en/Ersatzteil_garantie_15_Jahre

You will want to find the product plate on the oven someplace and make sure you have a photo (from your mobile) so you can give them the product number or serial number. From there they can give you the right rack (at typical CH prices of course).

Or you can order the part on-line.

Re: The elusive oven rack....

We completely ruined one of the oven pans on our Zug Microbraun SL oven about 5 years ago and as we thought we were moving we called Zug up and they delivered a replacement one within days. They just shipped it out with a pink slip so we didn't have to pay until after delivery.

They were extremely efficient and all they needed was the model number of the oven and I think the serial number . The number we phoned was 041 767 67 84.
Please note they shut from 11.45 till 1.15pm for lunch!

Good luck!

Re: The elusive oven rack....

If its a case of stubborn baked on filth get a pack of overnight soak oven cleaner, the stuff with a plastic bag.

The tray will be like new unless you have attacked it with a knife/scrubbing pad.

Firms selling kitchens and appliances, as well as appliance stores such as Fust can also order an accessory for you if you provide the model number. You will have to go pick it up. If you order directly from V Zug as others have suggested it will be delivered.

Re: The elusive oven rack....

I realise that I am a year late to this discussion, so the following advice is unlikely to be of any use the OP - however I have faced and solved the same problem - so this may be of help for those searching the site in the future.

Our apartment came with an ancient Miele oven (Swiss 55cm) with only one shelf. A small oven to start with - made smaller by the fact that everything had to go on one shelf. Really irritating.

A quick internet trawl found several suppliers offering replacement Miele shelves - at huge cost.

E-bay however produced the solution: a width-adjustable oven shelf for just £6. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-...item2571baa00a

Works great.

Re: The elusive oven rack....

Try then web site called www.espares.co.uk, if you know the name of the oven, they are usually pretty good at having all sorts of spare parts
