Thanks for that. I had a shoe with a cracked sole;
water was getting inside and doing more damage.
So that needed to be repaired.

The ladies at Eva Kirchhofer's did a good job and it
was cheap. But since it was a simple job, maybe it
would've been well done and cheap in any shop. The
nonchalant atmosphere there has some charm to it,
but I was surprised to see that they had stored my
shoes without using shoe inserts.

Hi,

Does anybody know the name of the repair shop in Stadelhofen? It was referenced earlier in this post. The link is dead. There is more than one cobbler there, so I'd like to know which one is getting these good reviews!

Cheers

I think I will give these ladies a shot. Does anyone know roughly how much a repair/replacement on a tall boot zipper would run around here? The zipper on my favorite boots broke today.

I can recommend one in Zürich Altstetten, just around the train station up the Altstetter Strasse on the right hand side. Old guy, older shop and most propably no English. But if someone can fix it, he can.
As I've just treated myself to a couple of pairs of quality shoes, it prompted me to find this thread, and I can confirm this guy is still there.
As soon as I need resoling and heeling will report back

Sorry for the late reply. The sole wasn’t replaced, only
mended with some glue.

I spoke with them in German. I suggest you simply call
them up and find out.

Look here: http://zuri.net/zurich/8785/fritz_huwyler.htm

I have not tried him, though.

I have gone to the following shoe repair places, all with good results:
- Coop St. Annahof
- Mister Minit in the Main Station (yep, open on weekends)
- http://www.schulthess-schuhe.ch in Zürich Rennweg

These small shops tend to move on after a few years. If you want a true cobbler, look for Orthopedic shoe makers.

Refine the search area by searching in your locality,

Thank you Sbrinz, I was looking for a shoe repair shop in Zug, this thread came up and thanks to your link, found two shops in Zug.

Re: Cobbler/Shoe Repair in Zürich?

Another shout for the Dubendorf cobbler.

He has resoled a number of my shoes over the last couple of years. The leather is of exceptional quality (far better than Mister Minit - which seems to indicate the length of time a heel will last) and the service and workmanship are also top notch.

I have just got a pair back from him - high quality shoes to start with - but they now look even better, with a real thick slab of leather under each shoe.

Re: Cobbler/Shoe Repair in Zürich?

Hi Dodgyken - is the cobbler you mention Fischer Christian on Bahnhofstrasse? How much do they typically charge for a full leather resole (if i'm allowed to ask ) ?

Probably - can't remember the name - but it is the small scrappy looking place up towards the traffic lights. As for price? TBH I can't remember, but it never feels expensive for what they do.
