backpack/bags in Zürich?

Hey guys!

The zippers on my backpack got utterly busted. Which means it's time to look for a new backpack(although any other kind of bag will do as long as it fulfils it's function of being able to carry typical student stuff heh). Does anyone know of any good bags to recommend that I can get here and will last long? My friend said Freitag, but I'm not really a fan of the texture...

Dakine seem to be popular amongst school and older students.

Re: backpack/bags in Zürich?

you can get a perfectly decent basic backpack in migros, but watch it with backpacks for two reasons a) if they're on your back you can't always see 'em, so you're a better target for the random thief who likes to unzip things, and b) i've almost had my head knocked off on the tram by backpackers who turn suddenly...

Re: backpack/bags in Zürich?

true, but I don't like having all the weight on one shoulder. I don't keep my valuables in an accessible compartment and haven't had a problem with pickpocketing so far, so I think I should be fine(: dakine looks good! not sure how migros bags will hold up...

Don't discount Migros too quickly, they have a great selection of different makes, some well-known, others not so. You need to visit a Migros SportXX.

Re: backpack/bags in Zürich?

I would definitely als recommend migros sport xx

Also, you could try the transa outlet in josefstrasse, Zurich.

For some reason, I feel that hiking daypacks are often higher quality than 'everyday' daypacks.

There's a few Bächli Bergsport Outdoors shops around Zurich too, I've never been but I've heard they're quite good! And you can see their selection of rucksacks on their website.

Re: backpack/bags in Zürich?

Actually just went out and bought myself this 30L rucksack from Aldi for 20 chf. Very lightweight, seems good quality to me, just perhaps the waist band is a bit short if you're of large built.

Re: backpack/bags in Zürich?

I agree with others who've said don't dismiss Migros too fast as they carry some seriously good stuff at affordable prices!

I always carry backpacks at my front! I need to see the action if there's going to be any!
