Doors and windows

Can anyone recommend a firm that they've used, that does doors and windows in the Basel/near Basel area?

I could make you a photo of our whole catalogue section, but my lens is not wide angle These are some of the companies we use, and they are very good, and apart from the Schrerer (it's the one we have been using on the last 6 projects), I am sure they cover the whole country. We usually let doors be done by a Holzbau (timber-work company), since it gets cheaper on the dozen...

Re: Doors and windows

An architect I have worked with uses this firm. They are in Rheinfelden.

http://www.fela-fenster.ch/web/

I know clients who were very happy with his work.

He does not not charge to quote. Some of the other firms do. If you give them the work they apply the cost of the quote to the work. If you go with another firm you pay for the quote.

So do ask before you call around for quotes or you might be unpleasantly surprised. Unfortunately some do not tell you on the phone that they charge to come out to quote. So now as a rule of thumb I ask in advance.

I consider the cost of doing a quote part of the cost of doing business. You don't get work if you don't quote, right?

Re: Doors and windows

We got our entire house triple glazed using this company across the border in Rheinfelden. I got 3 quotes, with two of them based in Switzerland and the German company was at least 20% cheaper like-for-like. It was a very professional service from survey, quotation, through to fitting and of course they handled all the cross border paperwork since a significant percentage of their business is here in CH.

Re: Doors and windows

Wow - thanks for all the suggestions.

Want we want to do is replace all the handles on the patio doors and on the windows, with lockable ones (all though the windows and doors lock solidly when shut - bolts top and bottom - the handles themselves don't have keys). But some of the wooden framed windows are looking a bit in need of replacement - which isn't surprising with them being ~20 years old.

We might also be getting a cat or two, so a new door with a cat flap might be on the cards.
