Try here.

http://www.moebelmarkt-dogern.de/

I had most of my furniture coming in from this store. They will deliver free and do all the paperwork for you.

hello, i couldn't find this case described - what happens when somebody not living in switzerland want's to bring me some food bought outside of switzerland of course. do all the rules for people living in switzerland also apply to guests ?

meaning, they can import up to 300 CHF per person + individual limits (meat, milk etc.)

Yes. It doesn't matter where you live. If you cross the border with goods you are liable to duty. If you are just passing through then you don't have to pay - you declare at the entry border and get a carnet (bit of paper) that you show at the exit border (they check you still have the stuff with you).

Re: Shopping abroad? Costs and recommendations of what to buy

Does anyone know what the duty free limit is when you travel from North America into Switzerland? I heard that it was a higher number (500EU)
but can't find any data proving that.

thx for the help.

@ Anwar: why would the duty-free limit be higher if you travel from North Aemrica into Switzerland?

Take a look at the website of the Swiss Federal Customs Administration;
http://www.ezv.admin.ch/zollinfo_pri...x.html?lang=en

"For other goods in tourist traffic there is a total value limit of CHF 300 per person"

Can anyone recommend a shopping center near Mulhouse that would be good for general all round Christmas gift shopping. We are planning a trip to The RheinCenter in Weil and may go to Mulhouse if we have time. Many thanks

It's hard to recommend a place for "all round" Xmas shopping. I mean, what does that mean? Like a department store? Nice little crafty things?

In any case, I don't see what is the attraction of going all the way to Mulhouse, unless you have to catch a train to Lyon. The town is rather a pit. The Géant in St. Louis (just over the border) has a huge selection of everything. As the name says, it is giant.

I usually split my Ausland shopping into three parts:
  • St. Louis (or Lörrach) farmer's market on Saturday mornings for fresh things, cheeses, ambiance.
  • Géant in St. Louis for cheese, wine, dairy in general, little pastry things, french bread, yogurt, cidre, Belgian beer!.
  • Rhein Center in Weil am Rhein for MEAT...., heavy German bread, German beer, strong Alczohzol, dry goods.
Toilet paper and the like are the same price everywhere. Best to just pick it up at your local Denner on the way home. Save the gas money and put it towards trying some new kind of miraculous French cheese!

Notably, I find that electronics are actually cheaper here in Schwitz. Shoes too.

Re: Shopping abroad? Costs and recommendations of what to buy

Hi all, we are going to have a shop 'over the border' this Saturday, after reading through the posts, I think Geant at St Louise is where we will head, as It seems to give the most choice. However, the reason for my enquiry is just a last minute thought, (sticking with the French supermarkets rather than German) can anyone suggest a large supermarket like Geant or Carreforre that is close to a pleasant town ,for more than just food shopping, so that we can make it a good and worthwhile day out.

Many thanks.

Re: Shopping abroad [France/Germany]? Costs and recommendations of what to buy

Dear all

Mulhouse would appear to be the place to go shopping! However, doesn't one get stung for customs duty at the border, or do some of you know of secret crossing places!!!

Re: Shopping abroad [France/Germany]? Costs and recommendations of what to buy

I did a search on shopping in Germany & came up with this thread. So i'll hijack it (in a nice way? )

Anyone been to Hohentengen? Where do you go?
I know where the Aldi is... Is there any other "great" shop/supermarket?
