Drilling rock for garden fountain??

Ok, i'm gonna guess this question is a bit left field so sorry in advance.

We have a small terrace and want to make a a water feature by having water bubble out the top of a large rock/stone ( the sort i can lift myself...not a huge one). I havent got the gear to do it myself, so wondered if anyone knows where i can either buy one or have one drilled?

Thanks a lot

You could get one drilled at a stone mason type place - who also sell large rocks. There's one on the Seestrasse near Baech - you can't miss it, Kuster AG

Otherwise, get something -pre-drilled at a garden centre such as Meier.

Re: Drilling rock for garden fountain??

I'll second Tom's recommendations.

Kuster was very helpful as we were trying to figure out how to build our patio and terraces. The gentleman in charge had good ideas, more importantly helped us avoid problems I hadn't even anticipated. And the prices were good.

Meier is my favorite garden center. Again, very helpful and knowledgeable folks. I could spend ages there, dreaming...

Re: Drilling rock for garden fountain??

Near here, in France, there is a stone mason that makes great fountains and sinks, etc, out of local limestone- about 55 mins from either Neuchâtel or Lausanne. Not os good for OP, but might come handy for someone in Romandie.

We will have a stone sink made when we do the new kitchen- as the original one was ripped out by the previous owners (the Protestant Church) in the 70s, together with the limestone floor and the wonderful tiled wood burner (grrrr). I found half an old stone sink in the garden- so will use it as the start of the waterfall going down to the pond when I get help with that- got plenty of limestone to clad the water stream down to the pond.
