There is a difference between expats and immigrants Wolli. One indication is whether they get paid contractor rates, or permanent employee salaries. The immigrants tend to take their lives here seriously. The expats tend to be "temporary" rich and whiny bitches.
Ah, so you are a cool immigrant and all the people coming to CH after you are some b@stard expats... got it.

Expat community? Just like anywhere else... I assume they are mostly adventurous and quite kind, despite their ocassional online muscle talk.

Yep, that's true. And, if we stop hating on haters, we might get busy with something positive.

Where is the love, people.

So sunny today, marvellous. I am at the university right at this moment, not a sight of an expat wanting to be an expat. Just people. Loads of things are organized here for people in general, whether they are expat or not is irrelevant, almost everybody speaks English here.

Hahahahah. Is this an attempt for a Friday thread? Cmon....

You can do so much better.

I do wish EPFL had more expat food in their cafet. Like, Mexican food...Russian borsch would help me study, tremendously.

I'm yet to see Russian borsch in a cafeteria of this sort, but would be great, I know. It would be nice if they would have some "ethnic" days, as they do in other places...it all depends on the cooks, it's do-able. Btw, could "French" be considered...like, ethnic?

P.S. You gave me a super -idea for the weekend. I'm longing for a goulash soup, my hubby makes a great one. Weekend's menu (partially) solved.

I will ask my mom for borsch, she is also an absolute goulash hero, but borsch I haven't had for a while, yum. My kid has periods she eats goulash every single day. I managed to bring smoked paprika from home last time I was there, makes the stewy saucy dishes really nice.

Ethnic? Well...I think they would protest. They'd say, deli, or boutique, specialty.. It's not that I care for the definition of ethnic, not inclined to try frogs nor snails, but man, I am still hooked on croissants aux amandes and tarte au citron, what uneventful cravings I have!

Anyways...how did we get to food? Makes me feel like home.
