Alphorn player wanted.

I don't know what sub-forum to put this under. I'm sure this is not the right one... but here goes.

I need* to hire an alp horn player (and/or maybe a yodeler) for an event.

I've contacted several associations both by phone and by email. I'm sure they are all on vacation (and not that they are ignoring me on purpose ) but I've gotten zero response.

Anyone know an alphorn player (and/or a yodeler) that might be interested in a gig in Milan? Or if anyone could please give me hints as to how to find one (or two) I'd be eternally grateful.

*yes, need!

Re: Alphorn player wanted.

You could try this lady. It seems that she is quite well known. Contact details and a phone number are on the website.

Good luck.

Added:

"With her pierced nose and ripped jeans Eliana Burki is a symbol of anarchy in the Swiss alphorn scene.
The alphorn was used by shepherds in the 18th century to communicate across the Alps. Burki, aged 25 and from Bern, became fixated by the traditional instrument at the age of five and was performing in concerts alongside adults from the age of nine.
Daily practice allowed her to go beyond the 12-note range of most players and use the alphorn in a blues-funk-jazz style that is at odds with the more purist form. The result landed her a record deal and a chance to work with David Bowie producer David Richards.

"You can compare it to the punks of the 1970s. I feel like them," she told swissinfo. "The instrument is difficult to play and I needed to practise for 20 years to develop this virtuosity. I take it to the limits but there are many more limits waiting for me."

Burki is just one of the new wave of alphorn players who are experimenting with the instrument, trying to extend its purpose beyond a mere symbol of Switzerland. " Link: http://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/alphorn-...w-notes/663630

Yes. We had seen her. In fact, she inspired the idea to get an alphorn player... Do you we work in the same company... ?

Thank you, both! Great suggestions, but I think someone not famous might be more in our price range.

But I'll reach out to them anyway.

Sweetie... You don't even know. I wanted an accordion player but got out voted.

For a yodeller, I am far too shy to put myself forward , but you could contact the Alphüttli of Geneva, one of them might be available. If you are unsuccessful, I can give you a couple of e-mails too. barbara@barbaraklossner.ch won't be in your price range but she leads the whole yodel scene in Switzerland and knows accordion and Alpine horn players too. Worth a try! Good luck!
