Great Swiss Picturebook for Children?

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a great "Swiss" picturebook or storybook for children? (I'm not looking for Heidi or something by Alois Carigiet.)

It would be great if anyone knows a fairytale book or story for Switzerland? For example, does Switzerland have any unique fairy tales that have been made into child-friendly picture books like Hansel and Gretel except Swiss instead of German?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Great Swiss Picturebook for Children?

There are boatloads of Swiss fairy tales published in French by Auzou Suisse. Given than many of the stories originate from e.g. Graubünden, Zürich, Uri, perhaps these titles are available in German as well? I can't find them in German after a 30 second google search, but that doesn't mean much. Perhaps your local bookshop could help?

Re: Great Swiss Picturebook for Children?

Picture books very much enjoyed:

Pitschi
Reise nach Tripiti
Tafiti und das Reisebaby
Ein neues Haus für Charlie
Mutig, mutig
Der kleine Maulwurf (everybody loves a poop story)
Das Krokodil findet eine Zuhause
Bobo Siebenschläfer wird nicht müde
Janosch
Max und Moritz - gruesome/funny?

Books with a lot of text and some illustrations:
Die Kleine Hexe
Das Kleine Gespenst

I have about 300 English kids books, but only a few German titles. Your local librarians are your best friends. Also, rummage sales organized by your gemainde/school can be a treasure trove.

Good luck hunting.

Re: Great Swiss Picturebook for Children?

Have a look here. The stories might not look "typical swiss" but "Pauli" or "Der kleine Eisbär" or "Der Regenbogenfisch" have become bestsellers and they've been invented and printed in CH. My kids love them and you'll find them in every library and bookshop.www.nord-sued.com
