We are planning a day trip from Zurich to Neuschwanstein Castle. Any suggestions?

Re: Planning a day trip from Zurich to Neuschwanstein Castle

Arrive as early as possible. This site gets mobbed and although you will curse me when the alarm goes off at 5am, you will thank me at 11am when you realize the castle is already sold out for the day and the laggards will turn around and drive home 3 hours having missed the opportunity! Also, go to both the castles...there is actually a second castle that is definitely worth viewing. As long as you wear sturdy walking shoes and are in decent shape, walk up the long road to the castle itself. It's a great hike, moderately buy not exhaustingly strenuous and a fun way to get exercise and fresh air. Finally, I think you can buy tickets ahead of time on line. Definitely avail yourself of this service. You will save waiting in lines that can last over 90 minutes and be assured of entry. Don't forget your camera!!

I suggest you reserve your tickets well in advance, as the waiting times can be horrendously long.

Thank you. We were earlier planning to leave around 8, however, will rethink our decision and will try to leave as early as possible in the morning.

Yes, we are planning to book the ticket online. The Marinebrucke (Mary Bridge) is closed due to rennovation activity, do you think that we will miss a lot due to it?
