And this girl also was from S.Gallen but she lives in Zurich now. And this what you are doing my darling is called stalking. If something was with her, who would remove skype account like omg. She obviously removed it by herself.

Its called stalking.
No, it's not. This is someone being concerned for a friend who may have been taken seriously ill or gotten into trouble with the law and not be able to communicate using their usual channels. Is that so hard to understand? If they have been in a bad accident they could be in a coma and relatives have had the e-mail/skype turned off for all you/we know. None of us know why this friend has either lost or cut off communications so don't make assumptions.

There are many deaths each year from stalking.

Billag know where everyone is in Switzerland. They could teach that young Edward Snowden a thing or two about surveillance.

Re: Finding a person from St. Gallen

Read the OP's location for God's sake. Based in Sweden so certainly not an hour away from St Gallen, even if you fly. Nor is it cheap for long distance telephone calls. And why wouldn't a relative close down an e-mail or skype account? They have to do things like that for bank accounts if a person has died. I intend to leave info for my husband or executor of my will re all the forums, etc, I belong to so he/they can ask for them to be shut down. It's the age of the Internet, you need to think of doing these things.

Just because you had a bad experience don't assume the same applies here. You DON'T KNOW.

Point taken, but if I left this information (and there's even software out there to handle this for you), I would also certainly leave the contact addresses of the people to be informed in the case of such an event.

Even more crazy talking to someone who is 40000 km from you. Not just me everyone had experiences with that, i wouldnt be suprised if it that was the same person who did that to me.

Re: Finding a person from St. Gallen

If person care for him/her i dont think it would just gone like that and not even try to contact him/her and explain what is going on. This person i was talking to was involed with drugs last years, i mean she was on rehab. So if you think is the same person from S.Gallen just pm me.

Re: Finding a person from St. Gallen

We don't even know if this person actually lives in St. Gallen.
It might not be the town, but somewhere in the canton.
Or the person gave St.Gallen as a location but lives somewhere else completely.
Or lives in/near St.Gallen but is legally resident somewhere else and therefore even the Gemeinde/canton concerned doesn't have this person registered!

What absolute nonsense. People on the forum here live all over the world and we "talk" to each other every day. You do the same thing on skype - that's why it's so popular.

Geography fact of the day: if someone is 40000km away from you (on the earth's surface) then they are simultaneously only about 75km away from you... which makes talking to them a pretty reasonable idea after all in my book.

I appreciate that you are trying to warn the OP based on your own experience. Other people's experiences may be the same; they may also be quite different.

Me, I don't know which outcome would be harder to take, finding out that someone I had online contact with is dead, or finding out that - even while I thought things were great - they were really so desperate to sever contact with me they had to fake a disappearance. I guess which one would upset me more would depend on what our relationship was like before this, on how much I cared for them and in what way. Perhaps I'd be happier after all never finding out.

So OP, all I can say is I wish you well, and hope either that you find your answers or that you don't find them, whichever would make you truly happy.

Re: Finding a person from St. Gallen

@vanDien
If you know of places your friend lives/lived or works/worked, you could research the possible addresses and send postcards. Plain postcards (i.e. no pictures at all) with her name and the possible address on one side, perhaps c/o the personnel department, or the landlord and the neighbours, and on the other side:

Dear NAME
I am trying to contact you because I am concerned about you.
Please would you contact me at [ENTER YOUR OWN POSTAL ADDRESS and EMAIL-ADDRESS]? Thank you.

If NAME is no longer at this address, please forward this postcard to her. Thank you.
If there is some reason why NAME cannot be contacted, would you please let me know? Thank you very much.
YOUR NAME.

Best to write this in English and in German.

In the German-speaking part of Switzerland, typically, anything flashy, loud or demanding is not appreciated. Therefore, if you keep your message non-dramatic and even business-like, you are more likely to get a response from someone, or that someone will forward a card to your friend.

If she has stopped writing back to you because she does not want to be contacted, perhaps she, or someone else on her behalf, will send you a short message saying “stop”. Then, at least, you would know it for sure, and can move on and leave your and her contact behind (= don’t stalk her). If, however, she is, for example, ill and unable to write to you, you might find out this way.

I wish you well.
