Led Christmas lights plug

Hi all

We bought our led Christmas lights from Coop last week

Problem is on opening the box, the plug isn't one I've seen before. I know it takes a 24v plug but not sure what I need to buy so it can be plug into a normal 3 plug socket. Any ideas and what it would be called in German?

Picture of plug attached

Thanks!

Re: Led Christmas lights plug

Usually the supplied 230 volts main voltage adapter, has 2 pins, and these will plug into any 3 pin socket. Otherwise, take it back to the shop!

Looking at your your attachment, you are missing the 230 volt adapter, go back to the shop, it should be included.

Ah thanks. It didn't come with an adapter. We'll go back and see what they say

Re: Led Christmas lights plug

They are not all sold with the adapter, there are several different lights that you string together so rather than sell adapters with all the different lights, they sell the adapter separately so that you only have one adapter.

I know this because I found this out the same way last year, also make sure you get the right adapter as they have different ones for internal and external system with different connectors.

That photo shows a DIN loudspeaker plug. They were the industry standard in Europe back in the 'sixties through 'eighties, before they got edged out by much bulkier Japanese and American systems.

Looks like that thing got repurposed for power supply. Clearly low-voltage; of course it serves its purpose, since it is polarized (important for LEDs), and these days no one has an old power amplifier to which it could be accidentally connected.

In other words, you'll need the right power supply (wall wart or whatever).
