I hope they get the irony:
Hosting the site that you hope competes with your competitor at your competitor.
Who came up with that idea?
AWS is probably the best of the cloud computing providers at the moment, so what is the problem with using them?
Netflix is also hosted on AWS and competing with Amazon's own streaming services.

Netflix's backend is hosted on AWS, yes (as far as I'm aware)
But their delivery-boxes on the edge are physical hardware, specifically designed for the purpose (and running more or less stock FreeBSD with nginx).

Swisscom, OTOH, has a cloud offering:
https://www.swisscom.ch/en/business/...ise/offer.html

So I really fail to see why they would host a web-site they co-partnered to bring into existence on a competitor's cloud offering.
A competitor that incidentally is also competing with the other co-partner in the retail-space.

To me, it does not make any sense. Not from a technical point of view ("If your cloud is sh1t, eat your own dogfood and make it better, goddamit") and not from a business point of view - because Amazon probably makes a profit on your operation, too.

Anyway, it's off topic now, kind of - I freely acknowledge that ;-)
