My husband and I are leaving Switzerland next month, we have both worked here for 4 years and have paid into a pension. Does anyone know what happens to the money that you have paid in. Neither of us are going to be working for the companies that we have been working for, so transfering the pension is not an option. Can anyone help????

first question is, are either of you EU citizens? I think that matters.

We are both British and are moving to Belgium.

I won't claim to be an expert but as you are an EU and not leaving EU, I believe the funds will be transferred to a vested pension account of your choosing and continue to earn some return but I am not sure that you can take the money until 'retirement'. However, the following only applies to the minimum required pension (BVG), so contributions above this amount by you or your employer, you may be able to access.
