Job interview in Geneva

Hi All,

I have a job interview in Geneva next week, my flight arrives mid morning and my interview is at 3pm.

Do any of you lovely folk have any suggestions about where I can get a decent lunch and kill some time?

The interview is located between Cornavin Station and Vernier.

Thanks guys

Re: Job interview in Geneva

I probably wouldn't bother leaving the airport to be honest. There are a few new food places just opened and various shops to browse, even freshen up.. then straight to the interview.

The area between the airport / cornivan / vernier is not geographically very large but by the time you screw about with trains and trams etc you would sort of waste a lot of time. So unless you just want to see a little of the city from the train .. I wouldn't bother.

Else maybe one of the hotels directly beside the airport for lunch .. But for the sake of a couple of hours I wouldn't bother going into GVA and back out again.

Example

Re: Job interview in Geneva

Thanks for this!

A few years ago my partner lived in Paquis and I can't remember from visiting him if Cornivan is the first stop after the airport.

I'm not too fussed about going into the city, just somewhere near-ish to the interview place because like you say I don't want to waste time, cause myself delay etc etc.

Thanks for the link.

Re: Job interview in Geneva

It's do-able for sure, to go into Geneva, like you say it's one stop on the train to Cornivan and Paquis with it's wealth of shops and restaurants is just five mins walk from there... It's just when you add up the walk down to the train platform, 10mins, wait for the train, up to 15mins, 10mins into Cornivan, choose food place, an hour to eat..etc ..then back again.. You are eating into your time..

If you imagine a triangle.. Airport at one point, Vernier at another and Cornivan at the other.. So you'd be sort of doubling your travel time?

Really depends where the interview is too.. The main road out towards vernier, route de meryn has loads of places to eat and the trams 14 or 18 go right along there from Cornivan. Huge Balexert shopping centre too.

Good luck

Rue de Lyon.

I did a route planner and it says that the number 10 bus goes that way. So I am okay with eating near the airport and then bussing it down.

I'd rather play it safe beforehand and then maybe explore afterwards.

Re: Job interview in Geneva

Every train from the airport stops at Cornavin; they leave often and the journey takes 6 minutes.

Paquis and the lake are a 5 minute brisk walk away. Lots of ok places to eat nearby. Take a walk, clear your head.

Holy Cow gourmet burger is outside Cornavin.

Don't forget to take your free 80 minute transport ticket before you go through customs.

The 10 bus takes about 20 minutes to get to the rue de Lyon. There are lots of restaurants around that area and also the Charmilles shopping centre. The 10 stops outside it.
