Screwfix or similar?

Can anyone recommend, or know of a company like Screwfix either in or outside of Switzerland which will deliver here? (Screwfix doesn't)?

Thanks

Re: Screwfix or similar?

@JagWaugh:

I'm not looking for anything exactly.

I've got various items with metric grub screws of various lengths and sizes missing.

I went to three DIY type places and none of them had any (Gewindestift) apart from one place that had two in a packet with a very expensive door handle.

Screwfix sells a box of 350 assorted grub screws for about 20 Euro. They don't ship to Switzerland.

Sure - I could spend hours ordering lots of different ones from different places here with postage and small order surcharges which would bring up the price of each screw to about 20 CHF but I really don't want to go down that route.

Hence the request for a place like screwfix.

The other thing I'd like is a Google Chrome Extension which filters out every company who doesn't ship to Switzerland and/or doesn't make it really clear that they don't ship to Switzerland before I spend time on their site creating a user account and adding bits to their virtual trolley.

They are also called Madenschrauben in German.

Conrad has a typical assortment, but expensive, and may be a special Cat hair and snot alloy.

This kind of stuff is usually to be found fairly cheap at the oldtimermesse Fribourg. Not likely at Mollis.

Re: Screwfix or similar?

Yes, I can use Google thanks.

Not sure what you're trying to prove but your sarcastic replies (with your constant need to reassure people that you have a vastly superior knowledge than them) to people asking for help.

Your lmgtfy link gives a set of grub screws from Conrad for 128 CHF + 8.95 P and P.

I can burn money without your help, thanks.

Sorry to have browned you off so severely. If you don't want to see my posts, put me on your ignore list. Perhaps I'll think twice next time too.

You could order from Screwfix in Germany and have it sent to one of parcels shops in Germany where you can pick it up.

Thanks for the kind offer.

I need to go to Germany in September anyway and there seems to be a lot of things that I either cannot get here or are is 500% higher in price here (like the screws) so I can do it then.

Re: Screwfix or similar?

hi Tom1234,
not sure exactly what you are looking for (I think of Screwfix having light construction fasteners) but if you are looking for general selection of screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc. may I suggest you go to a bigger Coop Bau und Hobby? I've been to several where they have hardware in containers, you weigh what you need and buy it by the kilo. Generally everything a non-industrial user would want - wood / metal screws, stainless and some brass screws and bolts (hex and pan-head), slot/PH/PZ/Hex/Torx drives, all sorts of mechanical anchors, hooks, marine and cable connectors, etc. Only thing I couldn't get were chemical anchors and of course, imperial size threads. Maybe call a Migros/OBI, but I think Bau & Hobby is much better.

If you know exactly what you want, you can get almost any standard product on-line at immerag.ch
-> online shop -> Verbindungs- und Befestigungtechnik (not in English but good pictures and dimensions)

If you do cross the border, suggest Bauhaus or Hornbach for small "Eisenwaren"
Good luck!

Oh! I didn't read any part of JagWaugh's post as sarcastic, nor had I ever thought of his writing as being out of a need to show superior knowledge. But then, we're all different in what we appreciate, as responses to posts.

Re: Screwfix or similar?

You need to visit your local ironmonger = Eisenhandler much better than Coop or DIY centers.

In French they are called Quincaillerie

Below, add your town for a local search.
