Anybody know of a nail salon for a manicure and pedicure in the Oberrieden area? Thalwil? Rueschlikon? Horgen?

OMG - does the lack of any response to this question mean there isn't a place for a manicure and pedicure in those places?

How about Kilchberg or Adliswil?? Surely somebody must know.

Anybody know how I can get a phone book here?

Sorry to sound so needy but my nails are a mess from all the unpacking and washing of dishes and glasses.

the phone book's at http://www.directories.ch/. You'll probably get the most hits looking for "Nagel*" and whichever town.

Thanks Barholemew - I tried the link and searched under manicure, nail studio, nail salon, nagel studio, nagel salon, nagelstudio and nagelsalon and got nothing.

I also tried www.yahoo.ch and only got one place that sells wholesale to the retail places that I can't seem to find (which would make sense anyway, why would a little salon even have a website?)

I'm going to ask my 20-something neices - hopefully they know of a place somewhere in Zurich.

Anyway, if I find a place, I'll get back to this post - I can't believe I'm the only woman on this board who'd like to have a manicure

Theres a place called Laguna in Thalwil, just beside the train station. If you're booking in for a manicure just request that its not with Sabine. Shes great for waxing but not so good on manicures. www.laguna-thalwil.ch

Theres another place thats near the Coop, I'll head up after work this evening and get you the name and address if you like. And i'll look around to see if I can find anymore.

Thanks so much netti and louann-dun - I just figured a small place wouldn't even have a website - interesting - As you suggested I did google.com and got google.de and some things did pop up.

I'm going to explore a little of Thalwil today and will look for it nettie.

And now not to hijack my own thread LOL - but can you recommend a driving school in Thalwil or the close area? I want to take a couple of lessons in order to prepare for the Swiss license - might as well do it now before the weather gets crummy to drive in.

LOL - its not that I'm so needy but the way you mentioned about Sabine being better at waxing - it'd be nice if I could get that sort of info about a driving instructor - please nobody like my husband or my father!

Laguna is on the lake side of the train station, as you face the hotel its up to your right about 100 yards or so. You cant miss it, oh but if the lights are out in the salon, continue around the corner and you'll see a white door that looks like its leading to the back of the buildings, theres a buzzer there for them and they're on the 3rd floor.

The other place is on the same lane as the Coop, just across from an asian shop. I'll be back in Thalwil about 6.15ish if you're still around and having trouble finding either of them.

For driving lessons, its called Fahrstunden. I was able to find this

Will definitely let you know if I find a good teacher - its the least I can do. This board has been a God-send for me - just knowing that everybody is out there - wonderful support.

Well we never even made it past the Post office in Oberrieden today - how that for being lame LOL?

I forgot the moving men were coming with the rest of our clothes (bathing suit). I'll try tomorrow afternoon. The Laguna website looks beautiful but a tad pricey <sigh> compared to US prices but what the heck, I'll give it a whirl if for no other reason than to see if its worth it....they do paraffin which is always a plus.

I'm afraid to say Laguna is one of the cheaper places I've found over here. They do gel nails, is that the same as parafin? But a special girl called Yana comes in to do them. When you ring to make an appointment they will give you her number and then you arrange it with her.

I've attached a price list of a place I went to in Zurich which was really nice. Quite pricey though. Nice as a pamper treat. I just hope the thing attaches properly. Sorry if it doesnt

Ah Bartholemew - I did indeed miss that little ole asterik - will try again.......hmmmm 94 hits in Oberrieden alone!? I gotta get out of this apartment more! I don't think they all have signs hanging outside but I will check it out again this time with the asterik.

Netti - paraffin is when they dip your feet in wax and then they wrap in in plastic - its wonderful, those little tootsies and heels are as smooth as can be.

I used to live on that coast ... so I've had my nails done in the Clarins studio in the fitness center 'Holmes Place' in Oberrieden (down at the lake). You can just tell them at the counter that your heading upstairs to the beauty parlor.
