Jewellery Valuation and repair

I've been given an old ring from my Mum who wants it valued and repaired if at all possible.

I thought this would be an easy thing to achieve in Zurich but apparently not. 2 Jewellers on bahnhof str. told me the ring was foreign so they wouldn't value it and that it was too delicate for them to risk repairing it, and suggested I just use soapy water to clean it.

Anyone know where I can take a foreign, 60+ year old ring to be valued and hopefully get the diamonds reseated (or whatever they do) in Zurich.

Re: Jewellery Valuation and repair

Try an antique jewelery dealer for the valuation.

Avoid soapy water to clean it. When I had my ring made, the jeweller told me to use liquid window cleaner, brings it up a treat

There is a place off Münzplatz that will do it, I can't remember their name.
