Hi, we are in Oxfordshire and are planning to move but haven't found a place to go to in Switzerland yet so can't commit, but we will keep in touch ok?
Are you thinking about sharing a big truck? How much stuff have you got to move (how many bedrooms worth from Cambridge)
Good luck in Switzerland!!!!

Yes, we plan to rent a big truck for the moving out. We are sharing a house then we only have one bedroom, but also a lot of stuff in the house such as fridge, LCD TV, sofa, tables...

For sure we keep in touch. We are you moving in Switzerland? Good luck in your house hunting.

Re: who would like to share the cost to move out from England to Switzerland

Hi,
I moved to London, but my stuff is still in Zurich. Would it be an option for me to use the same company and move my stuff in the other direction - maybe this will also contribute to rducing the costs, in case the charge for the truck to drive back.
Which company are you using?

Cheers,
Sigrid

Hi Sigrid,

Well at the moment I do not know yet I am still fishing for the best price. I am as well looking for renting the truck by myself as it saves a massive amount of money.

I will let you know when I will have decided. I believe I will ask a quotation for the return then from switzerland to England. Maybe they could be interested and give us a discount....

Re: who would like to share the cost to move out from England to Switzerland

Hi all
we still haven't found anything to move to... that's the big problem. Those nicer places go like hotcakes, or hot bread rolls as they say where I come from (Bavaria)....

But we are hopeful we'll find something before work starts on 1 December!

Once we know more, we'll be back in touch re: removal company sharing - if you still want to share!

I want to move out my stuff around 28th/29th September (to thurgau area about 60km from Zurich). Just 1 bed amount of furniture/some boxes etc. If anyone has transport to share or is interested in sharing then please get in touch. I am currently looking at prices. I'm in Surrey.

I moved over from Cambridge, just managed to fit all my stuff in a van and drove over with a mate, who had agreed to drive the van back.

I'd recommend Cambridge Car and Van Rental for the van hire if you're thinking about it, about the cheapest quote I got and they would let me drive the van into europe without a huge problem, you only have to prove to them you're insured to drive across europe.

Re: who would like to share the cost to move out from England to Switzerland

I also hired a van in Cambridge to move over to Geneva this summer. These guys were fantastic:

http://eastangliarental.com/

Cheapest place I could find, no problems with driving to Switzerland, no problems at all with the usual damage checks (the van was very new, but he wrote down at the start that it was basically scratched all over so that we know unless we totalled it that it wasn't going to be a problem!!).

We got a Luton van with a tail lift, which made loading and unloading sofas etc a lot easier.
