Here's a quick question - can anybody recommend (from experience) a good tailor in Zürich? Occasionally I find it would be handy to have one, I used to know two good and inexpensive tailors in Jerusalem, but walking around here I only saw a few places which didn't quite seem to be what I'm after...

I'm not looking for some high-end suit maker or anything like that. Someone who has a little shop somewhere and does simple repairs and adjustments (shortening of pants or shirts, replacing zippers, fixing seams), but does them well. (preferably not at a price outweighing the cost of clothes here too )

Not sure where you live in Zurich, but I have used a tailor in the Enge area before to alter some clothing and she did an excellent job. I don't know the exact address but she's on Gotthardstrasse (between Genferstrasse and Tunnelstrasse). There is a model train shop on the same side of the street. I recall she is closer to Genferstrasse end of the street. If you're in the area you can walk by and find her easily.

There are a couple on Schaffhauserstrasses on on the 10 and 14 tram route near the Salersteig stop.

It doesn't have to be nearby my home - I'm (hopefully ) not going to need a tailor every day I walk through Enge quite often, and know Gotthardstrasse and that area nearby the lake. I live in Kreis 5, between Kornhausbrücke and HB nearby Limmatplatz, so it's a walking distance too. But really anywhere in Zürich, especially in the "mainland" is good for me.

I do not find myself around that area that often, but this is Zürich and everything is just a tram and a bit away, so I could easily go there too.

I can recommend Stecknadel they did a good job and are very professional. I went to the one in Stadelhofen but theres 3 other locations around Zurich incl. one at Shopville. Their prices are listed on their website:

Try Von A bis Z, they are by Renweg - off Banhoffstrasse there is the leather shop in the corner and the shop is next door - I have eveything done there.

I have seen their shop in the SihlCity mall.
