Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but:

I was diagnosed with Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (basically my arch in my foot falls) in the US a few months ago, and my Swiss insurance coverage approved the surgery for the US, then denied it saying the cost was too high. They told me they would do the surgery in Switzerland, if I came back. I returned and have visited two Orthopedic surgeons who do not know what diagnosis to make. I have shown them the US doctor's diagnosis, but they shrug it off saying there is nothing they can do.

I am getting quite frustrated as the pain is terrible. Does anyone know of a really good Orthopedic specialist- especially one that specializes in the ankle and foot? An English (or even French or Italian) speaking doctor in the Romande area would be great (but I am willing to travel anywhere in CH)! I have an appointment with another doctor, but he can't see me until March! Thanks to anyone who can help me with this grueling ordeal!

Ruben, did you find a good ortho surgeon here? I need to have a tendon in my ankle repaired and am not sure where to have it done...

I know how you feel, well sort of. I went to the Permanence clinic in Bern for my ACL graft and they were really good. Top shelf doctor and minimally invasive keyhold surgery. I do not know if they specialise in your type of injury, but its worth an inquiry if they do. The Permanence is part of the Hirslanden Private group of hospitals throughout CH have a peek to see if this helps. I searched this forum also for advice and alot of people pointed me towards Zurich, but apparently my insurance only allowed me surgery in the same canton... not sure, didnt matter anyway as Bern was more than sufficient for my needs.

Ruben make sure you get 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinion before you go under the knife. I assume you have already tried shoe inserts?

I can relate to that. As good as the Docs can be here I have also come across few whose knowledge was not up to par. For some Docs you are just another patient and a down payment for the next Mercedes so research the hell out of your problem before you do anything that might end up making matters worse.

I can highly recommend bruderholz spital in basel. Top orthopedic surgeons, who proved their skills on different athletes (ivan and janica kostelics to name two)
