Looking for a musical keyboard

Can anyone recommend a decent model with 76 keys? I am just looking for that has a keytouch similar to that of a piano. Thanks!

Re: Looking for a musical keyboard

Just to clarify your request for information, when you specified "keytouch similar to a piano", were you referring to a touch-sensitive instrument, or one that has weighted keys? Digital pianos with weighted keys are nicer to play, but also more expensive than those with non-weighted keys, and generally only come with the full 88.

Piano afficionados will shudder at my recommendation, but Casio, worldwide purveyor of cheap calculators and electronics, are also in the business of making digital pianos, ranging from thirty-franc specials through mid-range with touch-sensitive, light-weight keys, to quite reasonable quality full digitals with weighted keys and excellent tone. I only know of sellers in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, but to get an idea of prices, check out

http://www.scanavini.ch/pianos_digitaux.php

and

http://www.webmarchand.ch/pianos.htm.

The webmarchand site has a very good range of digital pianos ("piano numerique" in French) at reasonable prices. Even if you can't buy one from them, you could potantially use their prices as a reference to barter for a better price in Zurich. In my experience, the musical instrument market is very flexible price-wise, and you can usually cut a deal if you know what you're talking about.

Happy playing.

In my opinion, the Yamaha DGX series are the best for home performances,as the sounds within them are far superior to the casio range. The Casio's are good entyry level machines, but beware, you will soon tire of the sounds!! Personally, I have used a DGX 500 , and you can even download files from the internet, and play these via the inbuilt disc drive.
