Re: Vegetable box scheme

There are companies in UK, like abel & cole in London. You subscibe to a weekly delivery of organic, seasonal veg. They also do other products. It's an organic veggie lucky packet.

If anyone here on this forum knows it would be Jack, the laughing Lemon guy.

Re: Vegetable box scheme

hello,

Basically you get send a box of organic veg & fruit by post. Quantity depends on what you want. A great way to taste and try things you haven't before and eat seasonally and healthy. One of the best known ones is : http://www.riverford.co.uk/

Hope this helps.

Re: Vegetable box scheme

I know of one who delivers vegetable boxes, but I am not sure which other area he would deliver. As I know, he is based out of Gockhausen, near the Zurich Zoo. I will try and reach him and find out.

Re: Vegetable box scheme

So I got my bag of veggies delivered the other day. This was in it:

* Carrots 700g - 3.60
* Chinese Cabbage 400g - 3.90
* Pumpkin 800g - 3.90
* Onions (smallish) 400g - 3.20
* Potatoes (Desiree) 800g - 3.20
* Broccoli 400g - 4.60
* Celeriac 500g - 4.60
* Beansprouts 150g - 4.80
* Oranges 900g - 4.90
* Bananas 600g - 4.40

Good quality produce without a doubt, the spuds look as though they've been dug up yesterday as do the carrots. The bananas are imported by the look of it as are the oranges I suspect.

The celeriac is going straight into the compost as a) the wife's allergic to it and b) I can't think of what to do with it anyway apart from "Selleriesalat" :/

Re: Vegetable box scheme

Hello,

Thanks ever so much for the update This was from biopac right?

What kind of box did you ask for? It looks like a good selection.

On celeriac, I am also not a fan of the prepared salads you can buy in the supermarket. The fresh one just tastes so much different.

It's a great vegetable for soups or I sometimes mix it into a gratin Dauphinoise.

Good recipes can be found on the Riverford website which I mentioned earlier.

regards,
chrissie

Re: Vegetable box scheme

Hi guys, it's now 2010 and I'm wondering if anyone else has found more vegetable box schemes or is subscribing to one? It's 35CHF for a single's box at biopac.ch with delivery every 2 weeks. I don't eat much vegetables or fruits to be honest, but if I have them in the fridge, maybe I will! Just wondering how much comes in a single's box to see if this is something i can feasibly finish. Cheers for the feedback!

Re: Vegetable box scheme

Thanks guys, I found freshbox using "hauslieferdienst gemuese" in google! but what i'm actually looking for is not just a vege/fruit delivery, but to have a source of organic, locally-grown products. freshbox doesn't seem to speak about local produce. i probably should check out the farmers market in milchbuck and oerlikon too (too early in the morning!!).

Re: Vegetable box scheme

Some farmers - like the one in Zürich-Affoltern (the one near Oerlikon) - sell their products at their place.

Otherwise the market in Oerlikon is a great.

So far I have not heard from an online local produce delivery.
