Online shopping issues / tips

Hi All,

I ordered my digicam online from a shop - <name removed by author>
According to the website I should have received the product within 48 hrs. It's been 3 days now and I haven't heard form them yet.

I made an online payment to the account mentioned by them in the email . There was no confirmation from their side whether they have received the payment or not. Nobody replies to the mail, and nobody even picks up the phone <removed by author> I tried sending mail in English and then in German (I admit I do not know German well, but that mail would have made sense to the one who knows!) but to no avail

I guess the shop is in St. Gallan. I can't really go there and buzz them up!
Can anybody suggest me what to do? Is it normal with that shop (or in Switz)?? I never had any problem when in the US.

you're not patient....ratings on toppreise.ch suggest you're not alone:

Rating for Speicher-shop (extract from http://www.toppreise.ch/shop_315.html):
Delivery time 3.1

toppriese.ch - That's exactly the place from where I got their website... OK, timely delivery of products is one thing, but can't they just confirm the (online) payment? How do I know that I have paid to the right guy? After all it was just an account number!

Generally they(other online shops) update the status to 'received payment'. But here it just says 'offen'. What do I infer from that?

Re: online shopping issue

That's horrible
Thuogh I can't decipher German, my translator gave me fair Idea what a blunder I have committed.

I am leaving the country in a month and as per responses in the site mentioned they take as much as 2-3 months for delivery. Can anything be done legally over this in Switzerland?

Sounds like you can ask your money back but lose 50 francs, at least that is what your link suggests....

Re: online shopping issue

Hmmmmmmm.....

Hate to rub your nose in your mess....

But those Toppreise.ch ratings mean something. If there is any one thing I would look at real carefully when selecting an online shop is the ratings from other customers.

Also, off the record, ... should have contacted me

Good luck,
Scott

I would have certainly felt sorry for you had I not been in the similar situation!

No, that's normal for Nikon, not for Switzerland. Nikon has been having trouble with their lens production for years. Lenses like the 18-200mm or the new 70-300mm VR have delivery times of up to 4 months.

I usually order my stuff from ARP.ch, heinigerag.ch or architronic.ch. Never had to wait more than 2 days for items they had in stock.

I don't live in Switzerland, but I don't think that's normal. That's definetely not normal in Germany.

I don't mind waiting two months if they tell me that *before ordering*. What I don't like is this practice of selling on-stock items and only telling you to wait after you pay...

Re: online shopping issue

I wouldn't even mind if they deliver products in 1 month, but they MUST confirm the payment.

Re: online shopping issue

OK, I am planning to do some more online shopping from an German shop (I reside in Switz). Do you see any issues with that? VAT or related stuff??

Toppreise shows rating as:
Site design / navigation 4.8
Offers / availability 4.7
Order handling 4.9
Topicality 4.8
Shop handling 4.7
Product descriptions 4.7

Delivery time 3.9
Dispatch costs and options 4.9
Payment options 5.3
Service / accessibility 5.2
Service after purchase 4.1
Price level 5.8

Please suggest. They are offering me products in 40% less. Is it worth?

I think if you have already had a bad experience ordering online, don't understand German, don't understand how VAT works and are asking these questions, you would be better advised to make your purchases at a store near your home...

Re: online shopping issue spartacus

well some stores for buy on line are really bad...for example www.spartacus.ch they put in the page on intrnet you can chose the language french, german , italian or english, and when you chose english and you ask for the product still is in german, well i buy one product, take 3 weeks, and every time they send information was in german...i ask something and they somethimes answer me in german (i say to they, sorry please write me in english! y dont epeak german!!! ), well at the moment that is the worst store for me.
Really bad service!

You are luckier than many, MaKita. At least you are getting reply to your mails. You can translate them using http://translate.google.com/translate_t

Good Luck!
